Bud was wonderful to work with and strived to keep us within budget. He built us a beautiful home which I still cannot believe is ours. Weather this year was unusual with much needed rain however it resulted in only added a month to our schedule. It has been worth the wait. The quality of our home, Bud's response to our needs and changes, and his attention to the construction of our dream home has been outstanding. We highly recommend him as a builder of a quality home.

Bud Hankins will give you a line that he has "built over 500 houses over the last 30 years", but what he wont tell you is that he has almost no knowledge about the work that his subs do and pays ABSOLUTELY no attention to the quality of their work. It took him three months longer to complete my house than he claimed. Not a single one of his allowances was adequate. His cabinet allowance was $4000 short for basic flat panel cabinets through his cabinet maker. $4000! When presented with this information he unapologetically responded "Well, you have a lot of cabinets. See if the cabinet guy can cut any fat." Yes, I have a lot of cabinets. The same cabinets that were in the plans that he made his bid off of. Then I found out that he didn't actually get a bid from them. He just guessed how much it would cost. Talking to one of his subs, this is a common practice for him. And he's ALWAYS short. And that was only the first shortage. On top of this, his trim carpenter does the shoddiest work I have ever seen. He messed up my cabinets twice through his carelessness, and rushed through every part of the job. He did not care about quality even a tiny bit. Shelves are not level. Base boards do not stay flush with the floor. Doors were hung crooked. I had to repair some of these things myself because Hankins simply doesn't care. Bud Hankins is lazy, arrogant, manipulative and near incompetent. Do not even consider giving him the opportunity to ruin your home build. He will make every part of it miserable. Stay far far away.

Our experience with the Hankins Company and Bud Hankins could not have been better. Bud is an honest, attentive builder who built our retirement home with care to keep us in budget as well as building us a beautiful, well crafted home beyond our expectations. The craftsmanship was excellent and the contractors were respectful of the job site and our property. I would build again with Bud Hankins and highly recommend the Hankins Company.
