    Estimate for roof replacement

DROPPED BY HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE: Last Spring I got estimates to get my roof replaced. I planned to pay for it myself, but when Carlos came out he said he could get my homeowners insurance to pay for it because he had researched my area and there had been a lot of severe weather. I explained I was hesitant to file a claim since I’d heard you can be dropped by your homeowners insurance for filing too many claims. He said in all the time he’s been doing this he’d never heard that and that they had a VERY high success rate in getting insurance to cover a new roof. He said RoofER had ‘guys like lawyers who really go after the insurance companies’ and he was confident mine would be covered. All I had to do was sign a document and they would take care of filing the claim and working with my insurance. He showed me pictures of a damaged shingle and said since this particular size of shingle wasn’t made any more, insurance would have to replace the whole roof. Fast forward a few weeks. My insurance covered the cost to replace some shingles but not the roof- after my deductible, I got a pay out of a whopping $54. Fast forward to this month, and my homeowners insurance DROPPED me because I had 3 claims within a couple of years. So much for Carlos knowing what he was talking about! Now I’m looking at paying up to $5,000 a year for homeowners insurance, if I can even get coverage!! Please talk to your insurance agent before signing anything with this company!
