Would give ZERO stars if that were an option. The Tom Yancey Company (TYC) has to be THE WORST ROOFING COMPANY in the greater Sacramento area. TYC destroyed our house between tear-off of old roof and install of new one. Mismanaged paperwork/schedules/crews resulted in our old roof torn off a week before TYC was ready to install the new one. TYC left our house with no roof and not even a tarp for 5 days. On the 5th day it poured rain. Extensive water damage throughout the entire house resulted in all of our possessions in storage and our family living in a hotel for 3 months until our house was repaired/returned to a livable condition. Ultimately the arbitrator stated in her ruling that TYC was negligent and failed to mitigate. Of the almost 100 roofing companies in the greater Sacramento area, The Tom Yancey Company should be anyone’s very last pick.
In TYC’s reply to a previous posting of this review the owner made one single claim that there was a breach of contract when we didn’t pay the invoice. He implied that we did not pay a single penny, when in fact we did pay, to the exact penny, the full price of the roof minus the damages his company caused for which we had to pay out of pocket - he refused the payment. THE MORE IMPORTANT POINT… in his reply the owner did not deny that TYC destroyed our home due to negligence and failure to mitigate. He couldn’t, because his company did exactly that, exactly as I described above. What happened to our home and our family should not happen to anyone else’s. There are so many other roofing companies out there - it’s not worth the risk of hiring TYC.
