    custom build a home
    $365,000

Have a home built in Cottages of the Greene in Foley, Alabama and have had problem after problem. The walls around my tub are bowed. The paint from the patio drips when it rains, the tub is not connected to the floor therefore it is only connected via drain, the tile in kitchen and bathrooms are not caulked or sealed therefore water gets behind it to the wall. During the building and after he will not return you phone calls and then hired a lawyer to not accept my calls due to what he called harassment. All I wanted is a home that he said he could build and all this for $345,000. Now I am stuck without being able to have these issues corrected by me paying others to correct.

    Build a new home

Had a home built in Cottages of the Greene in Foley, AL. We have had nothing but problems with our new home. Instead of enjoying it, we have had to make nothing but repairs. Contractor did not return nor have we heard from him to finish the punch list after we closed. Breakers keep tripping, you cannot run the washer and dryer without breaker tripping when you turn on a light in the dining room. Bathroom receptacles breakers trip when you plug in a blow dryer and flat iron. Receptacles trip breaker in kitchen when outside soffit lights are turned on. Two separate outside porch lights wired on one switch. Breakers are cheap breakers purchased from Lowes. Will cost us $5,000 to replace out breaker box with correct breakers according to an estimate we received from a reputable electrician company. Paint used in the home was low tier flat contractor paint you use in apartments. We requested semi gloss and was told first they could not get it. This was a lie, as we contacted Sherwin Williams and they had plenty. After explaining this, we were told it was an executive decision by the contractor to purchase the other paint. Found out it was due to paint being cheap and he has had problems with semi gloss in other homes exposing flaws in the sheetrock. Our walls are bowed according to our home inspection. Air conditioner not installed correctly, went down after two weeks and we had to pay to get it repaired at 11pm in July. Door hardware not working correctly, doors hung wrong, crown molding and baseboards separating, etc, etc. we have only lived here for 6 months and this is a brand new home! Do not have him build your home! He does not care about the customer, only their money! We have had to pay for extras in this home. He does not use subcontractors, just cheap labor and people not knowing what they are doing. He used a family to paint the outside of our home where a 10 year old was standing on a bucket painting window trim! Yes, a child! Used someone standing outside Home Depot to build our patio railing. It is horrible and unsafe! We will be taking measures to have this corrected! The list I have is too long to submit! This is what a $300k home will get you!
