You should really investigate the builder you go with before you build. We thought by choosing a name that had reputation and the website advertises (create their dream custom home. We value quality, integrity and exceptional customer service). We didn't realize until after we were already committed that we were not building with the Original Tiday. However at closing we found out that our builder was partners with the original.
since being in our home for 2 years now we are replacing the front walk way that was crooked and now is cracked, the garage floor by the drain has 20-30 cracks, my wood floors in the house you can see the subfloor, the siding was mis-cut in several places, back patio has chips coming out of it, my second floor upstairs makes all kinds of noise when walking in the master bedroom, hallway or kids room. When I am in my office on the first floor all I can hear is the floors making terrible noises above me. The heating and cooling vents were also connected up wrong where the upstairs heats and cools my office that is on the first floor. The first floor office heating and cooling is on its own and should be cooling the first floor office but it doesn't.
When you contact the builder on the large items they are ignored or excuses like, "it's allowable shrinkage on the wood floors". The wood floors also have peaks in them where it looks like they were nailed to tight or not nailed down properly.
This company may have been built on integrity but I'm afraid that money has taken over.
Do your homework and look at all builders before you choose your home. There are plenty of quality builders out there that want to do a good job.
I have built 5 homes and this one being the highest dollar amount and the less quality.
