Disappointing Experience – Be Cautious
Unfortunately, we cannot recommend Timpson based on our experience. We feel misled by the process and outcome of the work.
Timpson was hired to install a leach field and verbally quoted us under $20,000. However, the final bill was $27,935 — a significant increase. In addition, we paid $4,000 for plans, which we had assumed were included in the original quote. Our mistake was not getting a written estimate. We strongly advise others not to make the same error.
During the process of locating the well for the plans, they disconnected the pipe to the pump and attempted to backflow it to find the well. Unfortunately, they never reconnected the pipe, which caused the pump to burn out. Replacing the pump cost us $800.
Further issues included the breaking of four sprinkler pipes and damage to the sprinkler solenoid wiring — all left unrepaired. While we told them we’d handle a single broken pipe, breaking multiple lines and not marking them was careless. We now face several thousand dollars in additional repairs just to get our sprinkler system functioning again.
The cleanup was also subpar. The area was roughly raked over, and no effort was made to return it to its original state or re-seed the grass.
To make matters worse, the equipment operator was unfriendly and unwilling to communicate with us throughout the project. What was supposed to be a straightforward job stretched out from before Christmas and wasn’t completed until June.
This project ended up costing us thousands more than we were prepared for and left us with multiple problems to fix. If you decide to hire Timpson, get everything in writing — including a detailed quote and a timeline — to avoid surprises.
