We hired Todd to paint two bedrooms and two bathrooms of our new home. He refused to use the water based Porter brand primer that I purchased and told me he only uses his “Bootlegged” primer. Bootlegged was his exact words. It was oil based and the smell was horrific! He wore a respirator while spraying but there were four other people in the home working. Todd didn’t warn anyone before spraying. My tile guy was working in the next room where Todd was spraying. My tiler had no mask or protection from the fumes and he couldn’t just leave with wet mastic setting. My tiler was sick for two days after Todd sprayed. The carpet installers working on the main level had to leave the home as did I because of the fumes. Todd gave no warning to anyone else in the home that he would be spraying toxic primer. When I went back into the home to question exactly what he was spraying he became very defensive. Police were called because I discovered Todd was in fact using bootlegged primer and it was no joke. He was using a product that is prohibited in Cache Valley in large part because of the high VOC’s. The police not only confirmed he was using an illegal product but he also did not adhere to the warnings on the label of the restricted product. Todd was asked to get his things and leave while under police supervision. Then while “cleaning” up he dumped a LARGE amount of paint thinner all over our wood subfloor that soaked into the wood adding to the smell but even more concerning, creating a fire hazard. We have built three homes and NEVER have I ever had an experience like this! I don’t normally leave reviews but others need to be warned of his disregard for others safety and use of restricted products.

My experience with Todd was very different from the 1 star review left previously. I adjusted the schedule multiple times and he was easy-going and great to work with me. His painting job turned out beautiful. Todd is an extremely kind guy and pleasant to do business with. I've worked with a few other painters in the valley and my best experience so far was with Todd. Another reason that I trust Todd is because my old boss in framing recommended him. My old boss is probably the most meticulous perfectionist I know and he does amazing work. The fact that my old boss uses Todd and highly recommends him is a clear sign that Todd does good work!
