I hired Anthony Caprio (plumber license # 18395) on 8/3/2017 to perform plumbing work in two bathrooms in Andover, MA. He sounded "nice", met me 5am and asked to call him any time. I paid him $12,000 upfront because I needed to submit paid receipts to the insurance. Mr. Caprio started the job, left and never came back. He lied about having a contractor license. He lied about his business address, avoiding to be served to court. He refused to fill out tax form required by the insurance because he is receiving social security benefits. He even denied of cashing the checks. I had to get proof from the bank showing his license number. Be WARE. Email me with any questions, it would be sad to see anyone going thru this experience. I hired Anthony Caprio in December 2018 for a laundromat renovation Chelsea, MA. He bid the job at $35,000 for labor only; I would purchase all plumbing stock from a plumbing supply store I have an account at. This was far cheaper than other plumbing bids I had received (all around $90,000 for labor & stock) so I thought I found a deal. His low price should have been a big red flag. We submitted our contract to ISD and he was to be paid 1/5th of the contract as certain parts of the job were completed. He started asking for advance money pretty early on in the job (that should have been another big red flag but I didn't know any better). He stopped coming in as often and started holding up the laundromat renovation. Once he was paid around $32,000 he stopped showing up and started with excuses why he couldn't come. I called for an inspection and was told by the plumbing inspector none of Anthony Caprio's work was to code. Wrong size gas pipe for the dryers, all drain venting was done in the basement (far below flood level rim of the washers located on the ground floor), all plumbing for the bathroom had to ripped out, he tied into existing plumbing when it had to be replaced, the copper water lines had leaks at almost every solder connection, his drain line wasn't even pitched properly and he'd put a trap in backwards. I had to hire a new plumber who saved what he could be essentially had to re do the entire job. I was reimbursed nothing Anthony Caprio. DO NOT TRUST TONY HE WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY!!
