Our experience with Total Remodel Company (Ernest Brian Carrillo) was very unpleasant. We have lost time and money through the process. Below are some of the issues we have had with Total Remodel Company: 1. According to the contract, he was responsible for obtaining and paying for the permits. To assist in and quicken this process, we created all of the necessary drawings. When we were informed of a needed drawing, we cooperated and provided a professionally created drawing within 2-3 days. However, the project was delayed since he did not know how to print the drawings to scale. 2. He was very unprofessional and not productive. He only showed up to the site 3-5 times and he was the only one working on the project. Additionally, when information was needed from us, he did not notify us unless we called him. 3. It was extremely difficult to communicate with him. We would call during normal working hours every day for an update on the project status. He would not answer the phone for 4 or more days in a row. Typically, he would only talk to us if he wanted money. 4. He charged us an additional $100 for an inspection which was not requested by the city although he was fully responsible to pay for the permits. 5. He demanded a $1000 advance from us which was not in the contract. Before we could respond, which was less than 24 hours, he terminated the contract. This left us with a large hole in our backyard that we will need to hire someone to refill. Additionally, on the next day, he notified the city that he is no longer the contractor for the project and voided the permits. 6. We have asked for a return of our house key and initial deposit. He has not responded to our requests which were sent two weeks ago from the date of the complaint. Since he hasn’t returned the key, we will have to re-key all locks in our home. 7. The interior of the addition was to be completed by December 1st. As stated before, the project is not close to being done as he only dug a hole. This was a large inconvenience to us.
