My story is very much like all of the rest except he filed no permits until I fired him and claimed he had already ordered my materials that I had paid him for. He and his lawyer both refused to tell me who the materials were purchased from and refused to give them to me. He has strung me along for 8 months now and so many other excuses I can't even count them. My case is now going to the AG's office with all of the others that have filed charges against him.

The employees of Tradesmen Services I have met are great. Tim, Junior, Mark, Frank all are very nice and truly care about the work they do and your satisfaction. For small projects they are allowed to work on their own luckily.

However, the problem is with larger projects where Mario acts as "project manager" and he is just awful, awful, awful at this.

First of all, Mario doesn't listen. His phone rings what seems like every 30 seconds and he answers it in the middle of talking to you every time... I should have known and walked away at this point as this is a major pet peeve of mine... So not only does he not hear your needs, even worse he pretends to have heard what you want.

Secondly, Mario Mareno is god awful at communication. Not only with you the customer, but also with his own people. Seems impossible with his phone ringing every 30 seconds.

He did not start any of the 3 projects we signed on for (concurrently) on time. When WE contacted him, each time he told us that the project would start in a week... This happened again and again... Me calling or texting him and him saying it would start in a week, over and over. If he had just told me it will be a month, or if HE called me and let me know there was a delay at least one of the times, it would have shown a little integrity.

With our larger project, Mario told us it would be completed in a week (the day work finally started). After 9 weeks I began asking for timing updates which I never got. Every time I contacted him it was the same answers, either I don't know I'll check or 1 week. Of course he never checked back in. I didn't fire him until we reached the 17th week of the project, but I will get into that later.

Thirdly, Mario ignores the contract. In each contract it is clearly written what you want. Yet he does his own thing. With pressure though he will correct these major problems.

With the medium sized project we had scheduled, after 6 weeks of delays on this portion of the whole job, I double checked his plan and was completely blown away by how he was planning to move forward with a product we specifically said we did not want. Glad I double checked. Needless to say we cancelled this 3rd contract completely.

Fourthly, he lies. I caught him lying on multiple occasions.

    - I was told there were delays in getting one permit due to the "crazy" demands of Middletown DE. When the city inspector came by the house, he told me no permit was needed.

    - Mario told me he came by the job everyday in a written text I have. Yet he had no idea on the progress of the work continuously and on multiple occasions had the nerve to ask ME if workers showed up that day! Unbelievable!

Fifthly, he has refused to pay one of the sub-contractors on the job. Seems like no big deal as it won't effect you right? WRONG! The sub-contractor can legally demand payment from you the homeowner or business owner!

Even worse, I was not informed that a sub-contractor was going to be working on the job and I was never provided with a certificate of their insurance.

Sixthly, the large job that Mario personally managed was left a mess daily. You can find a few pictures in the comments on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/jhollisharris/posts/10208562857497723?pnref=story

Lastly, my wife voiced her concerns with the status of the project on the MOT residents FB page and ...

Instead of Mario Mareno apologizing profusely and immediately sending guys over to complete the work, he leaves a comment telling her to stop calling, saying he had been trying to call all morning, the project was done besides change orders and threatened to call a lawyer on her.

    WHO DOES THAT?!

By the way, you can find a duplicate of the post and pictures of the mess we found on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/jhollisharris/posts/10208562857497723?pnref=story

And guess what? The entire post was removed from the MOT residents site...

After a severe tongue lashing after I discovered Mario's comments on Facebook, he said he didn't realize the job wasn't done and wasn't clean. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE IF YOU SHOW UP EVERY DAY? Even once a week for a couple minutes would be enough. Heck our neighbors driving down Gloucester Blvd have seen it like that everyday for months!

I spoke with the subcontractor to ask why the work wasn't completed and he said that he went to pick up the materials to complete the job, but that Mario told the supply yard to not release the materials. UNBELIEVABLE!

So, I went to the supply yard, verified this is what happened and purchased the materials myself.

I also gave Mario the opportunity to apologize to my wife. He did not take the initiative.
