I need to warn others about Jose and his business practice. I am currently in communication with the BBB to resolve a dispute with Jose, because he unfortunately ruined my bathroom, ran off with my money, and cut contact. He was to install a tub, in the place of the walk in shower that was already there. Jose ruined the plumbing so badly that the shower leaked about a dozen times over the course of the year and a half after he installed it. Jose would come to fix it each time, but took forever, often no call no show, terrible communication, extremely unprofessional. Each time he had to fix the leaks, the bathroom would be taken apart and virtually unusable until he fixed it, for days to weeks at a time. Jose did not seem to have any sense of urgency. He was also careless enough that he cracked the tub and the surround of the tub on separate occasions when he came to fix things. On the last leak, I asked Jose to make it so a plumber could access the pipes, so I could hire a licensed, professional plumber to fix it once and for all. Jose cracked and broke the tub in the process, he left it in my garage and asked in he could come get it after his camping trip, and I said yes. Jose was to come back after his trip to dispose of the tub, and re tile the wall where the plumber fixed everything. Unfortunately, unethically, and immorally, Jose simply quit responding to my attempts at communication altogether. He abandoned the tub in my house so we had to have someone haul it away. We had to then pay a different contractor, several thousand dollars to come redo the entire tub and tile installation. Overall I paid over $4,000 to have a plumber and contractor fix everything Jose did. Again, Jose abandoned the project and communication and kept every cent we paid him. The plumber and contractor who fixed the issues for us were baffled at the way Jose and his team did things, they showed us several different examples of improperly installed plumbing and tile. The plumber easily found why we had the leaks and did not understand why Jose tried to do the plumbing the way he did, as it was entirely incorrect and set up for disaster after disaster like we experienced. Jose was baffled each time about the leaks, so I believe it is safe to say he does not truly have plumbing knowledge required to do good work on people's homes. I have reached out to the BBB, and with their help, managed to get in contact with Jose again, who offered to pay me $1,000 as reimbursement for a small portion of my massive costs to fix his work, and to reach a personal resolution between business and customer. Had he followed through, it would immensely help my family to recuperate some of the financial loss we have experienced as a result of Jose and his unethical business practices, but unfortunately, he merely promised payment to be able to tell the BBB he is trying to make it right. He has not responded to my recent communications about the payment he promised and has never sent a penny. Jose effectively stole thousands of dollars from my family with his unprofessional business practice. I really do not know how you can sleep well at night knowing that you stole thousands of dollars from a struggling, young family and ruined their home by pretending to be a contractor. An apology is not sufficient to resolve the problems caused by Jose, he should absolutely not be running a business or doing work in people's homes if this is the way he conducts himself. I can't caution anyone enough to stay away from this contractor. It is one of the worst decisions I have ever made to hire Jose and I am paying dearly for it.
