This builder pays attention to details and customer's requests. Great to work with and very forthcoming. Change orders do cost extra. Since this is my second build I knew how it would work. His change order cost was better than my last builders. Overall the experience and quality of my home were great. I really appreciated the time he spent at the construction site and how well everything was kept picked up. I would choose Tree of Life again.

First of all, Rick Grant is a veteran and do my best to work with veterans first. Second, as of now, he lives in my neighborhood and has been very helpful. He stopped by and helped me bring my new refrigerator into the house. I would have been stuck without him. Third, he’s super friendly, chatty, and listens too. Fourth, we bought a spec home, he waited for a 60 day closing and called every step of the lending process. Fifth, the house is perfect for us, there have been some small items, but he fixed them ASAP.
It’s a new house and there are gonna be issues. He even digs out the ground and brings in, SELECT FILL-DIRT, to provide a base for the slab. Not all builders do this. There are always gonna be some issues with new builds. And, builders are in the business of making money. Rick and his wife are super friendly and I don’t have any complaints.
*** I would recommend a second coat of paint, as it’s very thin. (This was mentioned in one of the other comments.)

After reading the reviews above, we were nervous when we saw the Tree of Life Custom Homes sign in the front yard of a beautiful new build, but we had the best experience dealing with Mr. Grant. We just purchased one of his custom spec homes and he was beyond professional, courteous, and attentive throughout the entire process. The week after closing, we had a small with the garage door...we called him that evening (after business hours) and the very next day it was resolved. I’m not sure what went wrong with the reviewers above but if you’re looking for a very experienced and knowledgeable straight shooter who really cares about the homes (& the people who buy them), then Mr. Grant is your guy. Our home is gorgeous and, should we ever decide to build in the future, we know our first call will be to Tree of Life Custom Homes.

BUYER BEWARE. The house structure is good, but finishing work is not up to par with other custom homes...more comparable to track homes. Contractor used low end subcontractors and material to maximize profit margin. The contractor used vague contracts to hide costs. Be prepared for the home to cost the buyer 10-25% more than contract value via change orders. The contract contained very low allowance which drove the need for change orders during the build. I also suspected rework cost due to the contract's or subcontractor's incompetence was hidden within change orders. To quote the builder "The customer always pays". Actual invoices which contained the costs were never presented with change orders. The contractor is also slow to respond or nonresponsive for warranty work when the cost is levied upon him. However, he will respond to warranty work when it doesn't cost him anything. Recommend having a lawyer review any contract if you need to do business with him. Also recommend doubling checking all allowance and put all verbal agreed upon costs in written. Agreed upon verbal change order costs doubled or even tripled after work was completed and change order was presented. The only explanation I received for the increase in cost was "his numbers weren't adding up"

By AnonymousMay 1, 2015build home$300,0004 daysDecent product, horrible customer service
The house is above average quality when compared to spec homes but not great quality for a custom home. The builder cuts corners and uses cheap methods when he thinks he can get away with it. In addition, the builder was horrible after purchase. We provided a punch list and he said he would resolve the issues. He made poor quality efforts to correct a few items then became extremely hostile and rude. I would not work with Tree of Life again if they were the last builder on earth.

Rick is the most down to earth person! He truly cares about his clients and their wishes when it comes to building a home. I highly recommend he and Tree of life! If my husband’s job ever has us relocate again, Rick will be the first person we call!!
