I contracted with SafeGuard on March 29th. My windows and doors were installed on August 23rd. It took this company 20 weeks to start my job. On the day of installation, they showed up as promised but didn’t leave my home until almost 10pm that night. They pulled my front doors around 4:30pm. They finished the front door installation in the dark. This is unacceptable and despicable behavior from a company that obviously just cares about getting a job done quickly…quality is a far distant second. They scheduled my installation for 3 days but they finished it in one day. They rushed through 13 windows and 3 doors, so the next day I checked to see how everything looked. I had several windows that were sticking out past the stucco of my home. Rather than take the time to properly fit the windows by cutting back into the window opening they just filled the gaps with an excessive amount of caulking.
My doors were also poorly installed, probably due to installing them in the dark. SafeGuard came out to look at the doors and said “they are level so what do you want us to do”. SafeGuard’s technician assessed the level of my doors by showing me the bubble inside the level is within the lines, however the bubble is not in the center rather it is touching the line. For doors if the bubble is touching the lines (not in the center) as with my doors, the door can be off as much as ½ inch over a 6-foot length. These doors are obviously out of plumb which is why the weather stripping is not contacting the door as it moves towards the top. The only fix attempt was to move the strike plate in forcing the door shut, which still didn’t seal the door properly but made it hard to close and lock. Either the technicians are horribly unqualified or they are just saying anything to not have to do the job correctly since it will take some effort on their part.
Additionally, they completely missed installing a screw in the door frame. They forgot to install the strike plate on my side door, I had to ask numerous times for this simple fix and when they did the plate was slightly larger than the cutout. Did they chisel out the opening to fit the strike plate…if you have read this far, you know the answer as this would have taken too much effort for their technicians. Instead they just screwed it in over the existing cutout.
To this day the punch-out work is still not fully completed. I am missing a proper threshold on two of my doors and the trim work is a mess as well. They installed the door trim below the door frame, which you can see where the exposed wood is at the top of the door jam. I told them that doesn’t seem right but they said its how they always do it. I have never seen trim installed below a door frame. They will say its right when it’s obviously not just so SafeGuard can avoid fixing it. I did not want to have to write this review but I have been going back and forth with this company for 2 months.
With all the options on the market for windows and door installation there is no reason anyone should give SafeGuard Impact Windows & Doors their business. Roll the dice with another company because this one is a bust for sure.
