ARTISTIC YES, BUSINESS ETHICAL NO!
I hired Pete one year ago to convert my large backyard from grass to desert landscape. After paying him $17,000 he laid a beautifully designed yard.
Because I am recently retired, I decided to take over the upkeep of our new yard. I needed to know what he had planted& how to keep them vital.
When I requested YARD UPKEEP information, he told me that would be an extra cost! What!!!? He was rude & even indignant that I should make such a request![Sidenote: I am a gemologist& have been in the fine jewelry industry for 30 years. If a customer requested ANYTHING regarding a piece I had sold them I jumped on the request to do whatever was needed TO MAKE THAT CUSTOMER HAPPY.]
After sending him several emails, he finally sent me a watering schedule (which we have followed) without any plant information!
I did my best to keep the yard healthy throughout the past year. Recently a master gardening friend visited my yard and told me something didn't seem right about it. She said that much of the garden did not seem to be thriving...and in fact, several plants had died or were burned.
My friend suggested I write to Pete for advice. I did that several weeks ago. Along with photos of examples, I asked him if he could advise me about what might be going on... Did I need more water, less water, fertilized, what?
I have never heard back.
Pete is an ineffective businessman that I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Stay as far away as you can from Pete Duncombe and Trident Landscape Management. Absolute worst customer service of any vendor I've EVER worked with. Will promise the moon, and then make excuse after excuse after excuse. I waited months for him to finish a job, then when he FINALLY did (mostly) finish it 4 months after originally promised, I asked if we could get a discount on the remaining balance since it took them so long (and since he had essentially stopped communicating with me – I would generally have to text 8-10 times over 2-3 weeks before I'd get any kind of reply). His response was to send a letter threatening to put a lien on my property. Move forward at your own risk with these guys. Pete is a horrible communicator, NEVER meets deadlines and is full of excuses.
