TLDR: They sold me a new condenser unit, it broke shortly after, and they charged me a crazy amount of money to fix the brand new system.
I had TriedNTrue come out in January for an issue with my condenser. It ended up making more sense from a money standpoint to just replace the entire unit. So they sold me a brand new condenser and installed it. $2,700 investment.
Less than 8 months later in August, the unit stops working. I call TriedNTrue to come out and look at my system. He goes outside, looks at it and says, "Wow, I've never seen this happen before." The entire compressor on my 8 month old unit needs to be replace. Of course the compressor is under warranty so no cost to them or me. They get the part the next day, install it, then I get the bill.
They charged me $1000 for the 2-2.5 hours of labor to replace the compressor. They also lost a small amount of freon, and I was charged for that as well.
So they sell me a brand new unit for $2,700, then 8 months later it breaks, and they charge me an additional $1,000 to repair the 8 month old system that should last 5 years minimum, hopefully much, much longer.
I called the owner and asked him to review my bill so that we could come to a number that was reasonable. I didn't expect them to do it for free, but $1000 is ridiculous. He told me he would review it and get back to me.
It's been 2+ weeks and I haven't heard a thing. If you have money to burn, or money to throw in the trash, spend it with TriedNTrue. Otherwise, I would find another local company that isn't gonna try to rob you in the process of repairing your AC.
