Terrible experience building with them. Once you pay the first big payment (the excavation) they are not interested in coming back any time soon. They never kept a timeline or corresponded with us for months. When they did show up to do something it was because they wanted another payment. Beware *** they have tried raising their fees by 15% AFTER you have a signed contract with them. That is so unethical. A contract is a contract, no matter what their lame excuse of the week is. Also*** any building materials brought to your property by TE are what YOU paid for. Several people have had TE people come by and try to take YOUR supplies off your property. Again, very unethical & wrong. There are LOTS of complaints against them (some have hired lawyers) but TE does their best at keeping the complaints hidden from the public. It’s strange to see so many bad reviews and then a couple of 5 star reviews pop up. I’ve heard stories about how they are able to do that, but no proof. Don’t be fooled. You will thank those of us who have stuck our necks out to protect the consumer later.

The Tropical Escape team was outstanding, they faced a lot of challenges out of their control and they were able to manage the whole construction and building process very efficiently, very impressed with their high level of customer service; they over achieved in my opinion. I could not have selected a better company to build my pool.

RUN RUN RUN away from this company!! Buyer Beware! After what my family is going through, this is what we learned:
1. If you call them you will only get an answering service, and no one will call you back. Ever. No matter how many times you call. Unless you are trying to buy a pool. Then you have a chance.
2. The price on your contract is 100% worthless. Be prepared to give them a blank check. Their contracts are completely front-loaded. They will raise the price on you once it would cost you more to hire someone else. They are smart enough to wait until you have paid them enough that it will cost you more to go elsewhere based on where your pool is progress-wise. If you rebuff, they will not call you back and they will abandon the project. Brian Fenimore, the sales guy promised this wouldn't happen to us after we expressed our concern after hearing stories from others. Do not trust anything he tells you. Shame on us for trusting him, we received a bill for close to $19,000 over our “contract”. How is this legal???
3. They WILL NOT respond to you unless you file a complaint. It is literally the ONLY way to get them to respond. Dbpr, Bbb, and Pasco building department is the way to go if you want a response. Otherwise you need to be okay with getting ignored for months on end.
4. Cody Brown, the owner, has a criminal record. He only worked for Olympus Pools for a couple of years then got his license. 95% of his staff came from Olympus.
5. Their BBB rating is an F. I recently called the Bbb and they were REVOKED after failing to respond to dozens of complaints. They only asked to be removed from the Bbb after they were told they going to be revoked.
6. They will not take responsibility for anything. Multiple failed inspections and poor quality and service is only due to “covid”??? Give me a break
7. If you are dumb enough, like we were to pay them, they will stop showing up.
8. They claim and admit they have sold way too many pools but still advertise to call them all over Facebook. They will have plenty of time to advertise but not enough time to return calls. If you are lucky enough to get Cody Brown on the phone, this loser will threaten to sue you if you speak up about their issues.
I could go on and on. The job has dragged on for almost A YEAR, and there is still a laundry list of work to complete. The rotating door of project managers will tell you there are is nothing they can do. This is a nightmare!!! -

Definitely do not recommend this company unless you want your money taken from you and to never hear from them. Their customer service and communication is absolutely horrible. We were pressured into signing on Fathers Day of 2021 to ensure we didn’t miss their “sale”, by their sales rep, Santiago, paid in $14k, paid for our permits, did our land survey and a year later nothing is still completed. It’s absolutely impossible to get ahold of anyone at the office. However if you post on Facebook the owner, Cody, is sure quick to respond defensively. Picking up the phone would be much more professional. We should have done more research and reached out to others prior to signing with this company because the mass majority of this companies clientele are unhappy. Our community already has a bad taste in their mouth from pool companies. Santiago ensured us this company would not act as the others in our area did. However, Santiago is no longer with Tropical Escape and they are acting just like the other shady companies did. Beware and make sure to do your research before you pay in any amount of money, sign anything, or let your kids know you’ll be building a pool.

It was a nightmare. We started last August and our pool is still not finished. Many outstanding issues, they labeled pipes wrong, hot tub not working, bind wire exposed poor communication and they still took the payment and have stated they are SHORT STAFFED

I originally wrote a review back in April 2022. As mentioned in that review, we were absolutely thrilled with the finished product and the issues we were having were based on the communications portion of everything. It has been 3 years since our pool was completed and any time I have had to reach out to the company, I have spoken to Ashley and she has taken care of everything. I had an issue with one of my pumps and lights, and she was on top of it. She provided me the information on who to contact for warranty work and even went above and beyond the call of duty and sent them all of the paperwork they would need to resolve my issue. She returned phone calls in a timely manner and called when she said she would. Recently I had an issue with my salt cell and she and Cody contacted me right away and now my issue will be resolved. I have given their number to anyone who has seen my pool and asked who built it. We were never disappointed with the product, just the communications, which has now been rectified, at least from my standpoint. Ashley and Cody have been awesome with any of the minor issues that have come up in the 3 years since the pool has been built.
