True Temp Heating & Ac owner Cy Nowlin gave us a bid on 3 ton Bryant furnace and AC units to be installed in our home in Jan 2021. After installation and I called Bryant to register both units for the extended warranty, Bryant said the units installed were PAYNE UNITS, NOT BRYANT. **THESE UNITS HAD BRYANT LABLES ON THEM! When we called him on the bait and switch, he took a long time to respond. When he did, he had a made up a story that his wife had just left him and he was scatter-brained, installing our “good units” in another clients home. So if not our home, he was going to install fake Bryant units in another customers home! He said he would either refund us the difference of $1000 between the units (I’m sure the difference was more, but it is hard to get a price on these units, unless you get an actual bid from an installer) , or he would come out and install Bryant units. He showed up to install new Bryant units upon my husbands request, about 2 months later.
We had a contract saying the units would be 3.0 ton Bryan furnace and Ac. Cy then installed 2.0 ton units!!! Not 3.0 ton as contract stayed!! He cheated us AGAIN!!
*DO NOT TRUST True Temp Heating & Cooling
Cy Nowlin talks a good talk, but he is a crook!
He has burned multiple customers.
*Buyer beware! Check out True Temp Heating and AC on the CCB board website!! Multiple complaints and Cy Nowlin is now working without CCB Licence and has over $10,000 in unpaid fines with the Oregon CCB board as of 8/2022.
His son Devin Nowlin ( who was an installer for his father Cy Nowlin (and did both installations at our home) now has his own company. Stellar Heating and cooling. Be ware of this company operating in the Dayton/Lafayette area as well! -

Gone, just gone. We called Cy last year for help with a bad a/c unit. He tried to repair it, but it looked like a replacement was in order. He worked up a quote for us and we sent him an advance of $4000 in early 2022 as a deposit for the work we agreed upon (we will never do this again, all apologies to honest contractors). I wish we had looked up his license, for it was about that time that it lapsed. Nevertheless, he was in good email communication until April when he said we were still "waiting on a unit." And since then, no response to emails or calls from different numbers. His website is still active, so I'm hoping he isn't booking new jobs while his contractor's license is lapsed. Meanwhile, we're scrambling to cover the money that he stole.

The owner, Cy, came to our home in 2020 and agreed that our AC unit needed to be replaced. He encouraged us to wait until Spring 2021 before the Summer heat hit. On 6/15/21, he came to our home and provided an estimate. I wrote him a check for $2500 to secure the work, which he explained would be done within 2 weeks time. He stated he wanted to give me a one-week turn-around time, but thought that two weeks would be more realistic.
Cy never completed the work. When we tried to get ahold of him via phone calls and text, he would only intermittently answer. At one point a few months after we provided him a deposit, he answered our call and said he was at "the warehouse" that very minute and they were trying to find our unit. This of course, turned out to be untrue. It is now June 2022, and we are out $2500 with no AC unit going into the summer. Our last contact with Cy was Oct. 1, 2021. Since then, we have attempted to contact him 3 times with no response. -
By Brandon M.February 25, 20212 HVAC systems for my home$21,500
True Temp owner Cy Nowlin
We hired Cy in November 2020. He was supposed to star the job the week after Thanksgiving, so we put down our deposit. I reached out several times to confirm he would show up and he never confirmed. A week after thanksgiving he finally returned my call and said he was waiting on a part. He said it would be in the following week. Did not return a call or text until Dec 10th. Came to cut out boots in our floor Dec 17th. did not hear from him for 2 weeks. Jan 4th 2021. I am still reaching out, begging him to help. We have no HVAC system. He came out Jan 8th and did 1 day of work running ducts. He would not return my calls or text. Jan 18th I asked him to confirm a start and end date or refund our money. He chose to refund our money. I reached out 8 more times for the next 3 weeks. He confirmed he mailed a check Feb 7th. I waited. Feb 24th I called him out. NO CHECK. he admitted that he never sent a check. We are filing a lawsuit to get our money $11,000 back. It's been a nightmare.

Owes us $11k for an HVAC system that he started to install and stopped. He told us that he returned all of the equipment after we agreed that he had too many personal problems happening in his life to complete the job. He told us that he would refund us last month and then admitted yesterday that he did not return any of the equipment and does not have our refund. He even went as far as to lie and said he was waiting for the refund check to clear his account before he could refund us. We have documentation of all of this. We were empathetic about his personal situation but he has left us without heat in the middle of winter with two small children, lied to us on multiple occasions and is holding our only money to move forward to get another system installed. I thought we should warn the community of his unprofessionalism. We have been without HVAC through two winter storms since January because of his actions. His business page reflects the same bad business ethics. We have multiple holes in our flooring where the vents were supposed to go that are incomplete leaving cold air coming up from the basement. There is unfinished duct work and instillation all over our basement left incomplete. We are hiring attorneys to get our refund which is another level of time money and frustration that we have to endure because of him. I just thought I’d let everyone know to steer clear. We have been patient long enough.

True temp installed an hvac unit and heat pump in 2012. They did great. I called in 2013 for a service and left several messages. They didn’t it return my call. I called agin in October 2020. They answered and we set up a service for a week out....no show. I called to ask what the plan of attack is, no call back. They don’t return voicemails. Horrible customer service. I absolutely do not recommend them.

Cy at True Temp just saved us over $1000 with his honesty and integrity. When the furnace in our condo stopped working just before Christmas our property manager called out another HVAC company because CY was busy. True Temp is the first company they normally call but because it was the Friday before Christmas they called a company that was very highly rated with glowing reviews. The first companies technician claimed the circuit board was the problem and quoted us $742 for a new one. He also claimed that the Hot Surface Igniter was on its way out due to high resistance (87 ohms). This would cost another $283. It only took a few minutes to google these items which we found to be much cheaper than quoted. ie $350 for the circuit board and $60 for the HSI. Certainly not $1025 as quoted by this crooked technician who obviously felt we were in a bind due to the cold weather and Christmas just around the corner. Cy was able to come at 9am the following morning and found that all he needed to do was Reset The Codes on the circuit board! The cost to do this was his normal call-out fee of just $80!! Plus he brought with him a new HSI just in case as it was supposedly "on its way out". Cy would have charged us $53 had the HSI been faulty. Obviously was were extremely happy to find out that we didn't need to spend over $1000 just before Christmas but the main thing that impressed us was how fast Cy sorted the problem and his honesty. He also showed he has integrity because he never bad mouthed the first company who are now insisting that we pay their $105 call out fee! Thank you Cy. And Merry Christmas.

We had True temp come out and give us an estimate for a new heat pump. We were very happy with the options he showed us and extremely happy with the price! He showed up on the day of our installation on time and worked vigorously through out the day to finish. He found some broken ducts in the attic and took care of them for us without a surprise extra fee at the end! We would strongly recommend them to our friends and family.
