You'll pay a premium for Ty Nelson construction. Different from most other contractors, Ty Nelson will provide a calendar with names and numbers of individuals working on your job, so you'll know in advance who is going to be there and when, doing what. Before even going into the job, everything will already be planned out with a schedule that you can see with your very own eyes. A finish date will be determined, which is very important. You can assume that everything will be done to A+ standards. Wait, that's we bought into, but didn't receive. Where do I begin? The job began a couple of weeks late. No big deal, we still had a schedule for once it began. A large remodel, we wanted someone with a solid reputation, even if it was going to be more expensive. There was virtually no quality control. Ty's reputation comes from when he was the one pounding the nails and cutting the boards. As a manager he fails. Most of the work was subbed out. We knew this in advance, just not how much. His crew did the demo, and then some of the finish like the trim. Not really much more than that. The big stall in the job was when it was decided over 1200 sqft of newly laid tile would have to be ripped out. Oops. There were other matters, this was just the big one. What was supposed to be a 2 and half month job wasn't finished for an entire year. Quality on his work comes in at a D. Trim is crooked, poorly cut, grout was left stuck to door handles, paint job could have been better done by a 10 year old, and they lost our doorbell and never got around to replacing it. Oh yeah, and we paid a premium for this, I'm guessing his crew did about half the work he bid it out for, while the subs did about double. Of course we paid more for the subs work, no discount for his crew doing less. Lousy work and really, really expensive. If you're doing a remodel, hire a contractor that will be there. Why pay double for subs if nobody is there to check on their work?
