Our rating for A.C.T. Contractors and Tyrone Thompson is because the work is good but our plumbing has not been connected to the City of Duncanville sewer tap as of 12/5/15. On 10/22/15 we signed a written agreement with Tyrone Thompson of A.C.T. Contractors that states plumber will “connect plumbing to city sewer and water line”….”Homeowner buys all fixtures, toilet, water heater, sinks, etc. Plumber supplies flex hoses, connections, p-traps, etc.”.
We gave Ty Thompson a check on 10/22/15 for one-half the total plumbing fee he requested. We agreed to his terms and signed the A.C.T. Contractors written plumbing estimate Ty Thompson submitted to us. We were to pay the remaining half plumbing fee at completion. The plumber was not able to start work until 11/06/15 when the city issued the project permit.
On 11/18/15, Ty Thompson of A.C.T. Contractors asked us to pay additional funds for a city required, sewer pump before he would have his plumber connect to the city sewer. We have refused to pay any additional money until A.C.T. Contractors plumbers “connect plumbing to city sewer” per our 10/22/15 plumbing agreement.
We only hired Ty Thompson, a general contractor, because we needed help from someone with construction experience and knowledge to handle plumbing and other details of our project per the city’s building standards. We feel payment for any additional items required by the city should have been addressed in our agreement between 10/22/15 and BEFORE the plumbing work started on 11/6/15. We assumed Ty Thompson, the contractor, used the two weeks he had our funds to explore what the city required to honor our written plumbing agreement.
As of 12/5/15, A.C.T. Contractors has not obtained a licensed plumber to connect our plumbing to the City of Duncanville sewer. Ty Thompson of A.C.T. Contractors has demanded we pay the next plumbing installment and accept the unconnected sewer plumbing as-is.
We refuse to pay additional funds for the required city sewer pump and we refuse to make any additional plumbing payments until our original agreement is complete. On 11/27/15, we offered to settle this dispute with a mediator, arbitrator, or small claims court. A.C.T. Contractors has not responded to our dispute resolution offer as of 12/5/15. We are disappointed that A.C.T. Contractors and Ty Thompson are not going to complete our plumbing connection to the city sewer as agreed in writing unless we pay the disputed additional funds.
