New windows, new roof over entry way and fix front bay windows

I could write 10 paragraphs in what a horrible experience I had with Unique Flips but I'll keep it short. I hired him in June 2016 to put in new windows, put a roof over my front entry way and redo our front bay windows. I gave him over a 50% deposit...my first mistake. He didn't start working on the entry way till October. Said the windows were on order , in June. In October he said the window people ordered the wrong windows it will be acouple more weeks before he could get new ones (turned out he never even ordered the windows...found that out in May 2017). He finished the front entry roof and railing but never started the windows and front bay windows.
December came and still no windows. Texted him in January to see when he was starting to work again. Got the run around till end of March when he wanted to stop by and talk to me. Turns out something was happening with his business license, from the end of 2016 till then. He wanted to finish the job and make everything right. By this time I didn't want to find another contractor and start all over again so we waited till May. Then we decided we wanted the rest of our money back. Well it's August 2017 and I'm still waiting. So frustrating! He's a smooth talker.....don't let that fool you! Don't hire him!

    Complete waste

For starters, getting this guy on the phone was a nightmare. He refused to return detailed messages, which included multiple instances of a phone number. Once that hurdle was overcame, he would treat my wife like she had no idea what she wanted. She's trying to explain to this sad excuse for a contractor what kind of wood she wants the cabinets built from and he's talking to her like she's a fool. I'm sorry, is oak such a rare material to make cabinets from that we need to act like my wife is an idiot?

So, since we had already gone this far, pushed pass the rude attitude and extreme disregard for everything else, we decided that we might as well continue with everything so we could hopefully get something out of our frustration. After all, anyone with this low of customer service which can get a business started must be good at something right? Wrong. After insisting on cash up front, he took no less than three bloody weeks to even get to our house with a truck, brought a crew of immigrants who could not speak a word of English excepting for the typical "Mexican Foreman" who speaks for the rest of the group. I wager he grabbed them in front of the local Lowes given their terrible work ethic. He left them unattended in the house to do the various tasks we had paid him for, I caught one pocketing Blu Rays from my living room. When I confronted Mr. Harel about it, he dismissed it, called me a liar (directly) and went back to chatting on his cell phone in my drive way, which is apparently what he was paid to do.

After they finally finished the job, which wasn't overly complicated, just some new cabinets, paint job on one room, and replacing a damaged dry wall panel, we discovered that one of the cabinets was only connected to the wall with three dry wall screws which were, as dry wall screws typically are, not connected to any studs, meaning that the dry wall behind the cabinet would be the only thing supporting the weight of our dishes.

We also found that a few peices of my wife's rare blue ceramic china were missing, along with a few DVDs and around 115 dollars cash that my wife had left in her purse in the kitchen while she was upstairs taking a shower.

Lesson learned: Don't hire a contractor based on closeness to your home or price. Avoid people with minimal or poor reviews on major websites. And if someone is rude to your spouse, chances are they are going to be rude to you, and will likely hold little regard for their own performance.

Fast, courteous, prompt and works to the highest standards I have ever seen from a contractor. I would recommend John to my parents!
