    We are survivors of the 2020 Santa Cruz Lightning Complex fire whose home was completely destroyed. We will always be grateful to Eric and his hardworking team at Urbatect for their work to get our rebuilding project design completed and through permitting. Eric kindly rescued us when we were in a very difficult and complex situation with our complete home rebuild. Our original architect had backed out with most of the work for the permit submittal nowhere near completion. Urbatect prepared all of the permit submittal documents/plans required by Santa Cruz County very quickly, taking into account the direction of our Geotechnical engineer and the many State and Local building codes specific to the build site that made the project a challenge – Seismic Zone, Debris Flow Zone, Wildland Urban Interface, Title 24 etc. Most counties and design firms are unfamiliar with the specific requirements for a wildfire rebuild project. As homeowners, we had been very involved with the difficult process of influencing the County to provide clear and reasonable guidance on their expectations. It was critical that Urbatect was willing to collaborate with us to address the very specific requirements that we had learned through our interactions with the various County agencies involved. There are many horror stories among the fire victims – Urbatect rescued us from ours. We always felt they were being ethical and honest with us, they delivered and that was huge.

    I hired Urbatect for my 1,645sf remodel in Watsonville. They did the design, permits and remodel itself. Initially things were a little rough as the city was delaying our approval and it took longer than expected and while it had a lot to do with COVID, we were still able to finish my remodel in a timely manner & as per the original schedule. This meant urbatect working weekends and extended hours and I am appreciative they kept their budget and timeline despite working hours outside of the contract. I am very happy with the process and the team and I love the finishes and the overall outcome of my remodel.

    My retired parents have an investment property in Santa Cruz county that required a ton of re-work due to molding and dry rot. Since we live oversees, we were looking for a company that could handle everything from dealing with the county, our property manager and the tenant. Urbatect came in with a very competitive price and timeline and really built rapport with my parents so we gave them the opportunity to do the job. The job went great as we were kept informed throughout the process of construction. We had excellent communication and the biggest take-away was that Urbatect did a fine job in keeping my parents informed and giving them piece of mind by sending them weekly photos and constant updates. Their project supervisor, Manny, was also great to do deal. Would recommend to anyone looking for quality work and great communication!

    We needed to complete an entire project for our home renovation and after I researched all over the internet, I found Eric and Urbatect. He was the first person I felt I could trust and actually cared about our project, our home, and our family. He always delivered everything on time and helped us understand the complicated world of home construction. There are a lot of scammers whose quotes seem to be much lower than the final bill, but not the case if you work with Urbatect. They know how to do the job right while taking care of their customers. You need to hire these guys!

    Structural Engineer

    I was looking for a structural engineer to help me with an addition immediately as we were in the middle of the construction. I called several engineers who told me it would take them several weeks and they also quoted me a much higher price. I called Eric on a Friday and he was able to give me the the required plans and calculations in less than a week. Eric is very fast, easy to work with, great communication and I would highly recommend him and gladly use his services again.

We contracted Urbatect for arch, structural engineering and title 24 as well as pulling the permits. We are currently at the city getting approval but so far the communication has been great, the quality and the timeline. As a homeowner, we were concerned with the budget and Urbatect was able to help us come up with different design alternatives that lead to our target budget.     Hired Urbatect for an ADU in San Jose, CA. Design took approximately 3-4 weeks from initial consultation and we were able to get a permit shortly after as an over-the-counter review was obtained. Although I received lower quotes for design elsewhere, I went with Urbatect for the knowledge they have as a General Contractor as well as the incredible background Eric has in the industry. We will soon be contracting for the build portion. So far very pleased with how things are coming along.

    I worked closely with Eric on my project located in Redwood City, CA. My home had a few violations that I was not aware of because I was out of town for a few months.     The Structural Engineer I was working with bailed out on me and was left with an incomplete set of plans/design. Nobody wanted to help me due to all the work and comments the city of San Francisco had provided. Eric and his team were able to quickly take care of this issue for me and pulled the permit in a matter of 3 weeks despite all the challenges involved with my project.
