By Brad K.December 5, 2023Repair a "belley" in my sewer line from the house all the way to under the street$24,800
Though the cost of job was staggering, once I saw the amount of work they had to go through to repair my sewer line that had been originally installed improperly by Hearthstone Homes and Dave Janke Plumbing (their contractor), it justified the cost. They went to work, stayed on the job, and I never saw anyone not doing something during the days they were on site. THAT IS RARE. It is even more rare to find a contractor that knows what in the hell they are doing THE FIRST TIME. On top of this, any question I had was immediately and politely answered my any member of their crew. This told me they were all skilled....not just one. IMPRESSIVE. Have little concern if you hire these men. They will tackle the job and do their best, and they answer to God....the latter was the most impressive. I can't say enough good about these men. I hope this review helps you make your decision. I am not a man of means, and I gladly paid them.

Permits
- Building permit records show that Utility Trenching Inc has worked on 8 permitted projects.
Utility Trenching had to dig up the full Right Of Way in front of our house to connect our neighbor to the city sewer. They are great for sewer work, but are awful at landscaping, which is 80% of the work.
I wish we could add images to show how awful the finish job is. They dumped hard clay fill dirt full of chunks on our nice river bottom soil and didn't break up the clumps. Not only that, they don't even grade it well or feather it back into your existing lawn. The trench area is now up to 5 inches higher than the surrounding area and looks like it's still a work site.
They threw down grass seed that will never grow, because they compacted the soil with their excavator and left all the clumps that'll just be bare spots in the end. I called the owner who blew up on me and was extremely rude for simply stating I wasn't happy.
He did come out the next day and said it would all be taken care of. The following week they came came and fixed one issue, which I had to tutor them on how to do it(setting the cleanout boxes to the correct level, but the rest wasn't even close to par. I fixed it myself and will not suggest them to anyone.
If you have them do any work for you, have them quote the job without grading and finishing your lawn, because you'll be fixing yourself anyway...
