    My family was referred to Val by The Tile Shop in Countryside IL to set subway tile in our shower. We already purchased the tile and all supplies that were need to tile the shower but we required 10 more bull nose tile pieces for the boarder of the shower. Val then ordered the tile from the tile shop and installed it. After Val's employees set the tile and completed the job we noticed that 10 of the tile pieces were the wrong color. These 10 pieces were the ones that Val bought. We contacted Val about this and he said that he would correct the issue. The next day Val was supposed to come out but he never showed up. We called him and he said that we would have to remove tile incorrect tile from the wall ourselves and bring it to the tile store and get new pieces and also install them our selves. He then said that he was done with us and would no longer fix the problem. He made excuse after excuse and shifted the blame on us as he claimed that we should have noticed the issue sooner(before the job was complete). The tile we bought was a white marble matt finish and the tile he bought was the same style but in a cream color. He claimed that the SKU numbers for the two different tile colors were the same. We called the store manager and he said that this was not true and the tiles did have different SKU numbers. Val said that he couldn't tell the difference in the two colors and so we shouldn't have been able to either and acted like we were making too big a deal out of it then he hung up on me. Val's employees also took materials that didn't belong to them: such as, a 50lbs bag of white thinset that was never used and good quality tile spaces that we owned. They also used Omnigrip tile adhesive to set the tile. We later learned that this is a poor quality product and should never be used in wet areas. We also spent hours after the work was done scraping off dried tile adhesive and grout that they failed to remover from the tiles. We trusted that Val and his company would provide good quality service as he told us that he has been in business for 40 years but that isn't what we received.His employees should have verified that the tile they bought matched the tile we had before it was installed. Now we are left with a shower that has mismatched tiles that I have to fix myself because he refuses to correct it. DO NOT EVER CONTRACT WITH VAL TO DO WORK FOR YOU OR THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL GET!!!!!!!!

    Val built a 1900 sq. foot addition to our 50 year old house which included a garage rebuild and 3 rooms above. there was also a bathroom renovation. The addition looks seamless, like it has always been here, the bathroom is beautiful! We are always making referrals to Val and his team. The contractor team is polite, hard working, neat and excellent craftsman. They all were a pleasure to work with. Would not hesitate to call on Val again.
