In the fall of 2017 my husband and I decided we no longer wanted to spend winters up north. We came to the Rotonda West area and began the process of looking at many models and narrowing down the list of builders who could give us exactly what we wanted in our new home. We contacted two and set up appointments. At the first house we were met by the builder's real estate agent. When we walked into the second house, Peter was sitting in the kitchen waiting for us. It meant so much to us that he took time out of his busy schedule to meet in person. We had a list of "wants" and he was able to check every box. On a handshake, we began the process of getting our dream home built. In six short months we were moving furniture into our home. We were not present for most of the construction. What could have been a very stressful time turned into one of the most positive experiences we've ever had. Thanks to FaceTime, emails, and texting we were in constant communication with Peter. He was consistently available and never once made us feel like we weren't the most important people in his life. His company has very high standards and his subcontractors provide the highest quality. His finish guys are the absolute best. We originally planned to use another builder who we later learned had swindled several clients out of several thousands of dollars and left homes undone. Because of that, we did our due diligence and really checked out the local builders. We found Vantage Homes, loved the house plans offered and arranged a time to meet with Peter.
Peter was extremely helpful and professional, doing a walk thru of several models, we were able to see the hidden factors i.e. 2x4's were straight and good quality, cement work was level, etc. Paint and trim work passed the test of this former quality control inspector. Build sites were tidy, those working were attentive to what they were doing. And all, were approachable for questions.
Building a new home 1500 miles away was difficult as we couldn't just drive over to check the progress, but Peter sent photos to keep us in the loop of the progress. We broke ground Feb.1 and moved in on Nov. 1. Keep in mind, Covid had just started and we ran into delays with appliances which were out of Peter's control. Other than that, we left a home we'd loved for 25 yrs and moved into this home which surpassed our expectations.
This was our 3rd time building, it's a process we actually enjoy, but have no desire to do so again as our place is perfect. Ok, if we hit the lottery then maybe, but Vantage Homes will be the builder.
We get so many comments and compliments on our home and we highly recommend Peter if you want a house that you're proud of making home.

Vantage has taken on many more projects since 2015 and with a limited amount of workers so the time frame has greatly grew . No longer can a 2500
Sq Ft house be built in under a year. Numerous item must be changed due to shortages and delays in delivery, and not enough qualified workers . So therefore quality of work will and has diminished some . This is today’s reviews without personal feelings involved just absolutely true statements.
Be sure to get all the information and pricing up front and written on super with both signatures.

Peter Ide is not just any ordinary custom builder. From the initial meeting and handshake deal, we knew we were not hiring your average Joe. We looked at several models before we decided on Vantage homes. The attention to detail and craftsmanship truly separates Peter and his team from the run of the mill builders in our area. Peter Ide is an absolute superstar. He took over the construction of our new home after we had a terrible experience with our original builder. He immediately lined up and scheduled his contractors to complete work on our home. He also completed the rework items which were not completed satisfactory by the previous builder. Peter has an eye for quality and is meticulous with all of his efforts. I cannot say enough wonderful things about peter and his crew. They are absolutely amazing and do quality work. After spending several winters in Rotonda West, Fl (we are from Ottawa, Ontario - Canada's capital) we decided to build our own home here in the land of endless summer. After careful research and a couple of years checking model homes and building specs we were fortunate enough to meet Peter Ide of Vantage Homes. Peter not only built our house on time and on budget, he also delivered a home of excellent quality and style. I created a spreadsheet with about 40 home builders. Vantage Homes came out number one after I interviewed and researched most of them. I wanted a bonded builder, who would allow me to customize the home, within my budget and use my double lot. I felt totally comfortable with Peter upon my first meeting with him. It has been a year since I moved in and the quality of the home is still exceptional.
His wife Melanie was lovely and a great help also, she made many trips to Loew’s and Home Depot to pick up special orders and made recommendations for granite, lighting, etc. She even sent me photos once it was painted and the granite installed. It was great to be able to choose my own brand of cabinets, plumbing hardware, tiles etc. I kept track of my choices using a spreadsheet. They were both “good people” that were easy to work with. I met Carl, Charlie and the painter – they were skilled, hardworking and honest too. My 3 bedroom home is modest in size, but feels very roomy due to the high ceilings and open floor plan. Peter also allowed some extra room around the toilet for wheelchair accessibility as I hope to “age in-place”.
His move-in date estimate was delayed because he needed to be sure there were no Gopher tortoises on site. Peter always returned text messages promptly. He made it easy to communicate even though I was in Pennsylvania while the home was being built. I highly recommend Vantage Homes.

After looking at many homes for sale in Punta Gorda, which most needed alot of work or complete remodel, we found a small lot to build on. We took our time to find a builder, looking at many many model homes and talking with many builders. Most model homes have many upgrades and only sales people to talk to, so changing anything to fit our lot, sales people were lost, and many never got back to us. When we called Vantage Homes we were shocked we talked to the builder and later met with the builder personally. He was able to direct us to designing our own home that would fit on the lot and become a reality. We always spoke with Peter directly not the salesman, like so many other builders. We happily moved into our new home this last November. Thank you Peter, and all of your contractors too!

We are delighted with our new home! We felt totally comfortable working with Peter from our very first meeting. He's professional, knowledgeable, honest, and has a wonderful sense of humor. He finished our house on-time and within budget. Peter's wife Mel is also delightful to work with. She was an enormous help with appliances, mirrors, water features and landscaping and our house is even better due to her input. Charley and Carl are Peter's excellent master craftsmen who create the special features included in Vantage Homes models such as the floating ceilings in our home. Our motor home does not talk, but if it did, we are sure it would be singing the praises of its new RV garage! We had been looking for a home in Rotonda West Florida for a couple of years. By chance, we went to an open house that Vantage Homes built and how blessed do we feel that we did. Unfortunately we didn't get to build our home with Pete due to not being able to sell our home in MD. Pete was a pleasure to work with and a true professional. There is an old saying. "You get what you pay for". In his case I feel I got what I paid for and a lot more. Quality construction, many upgrades included, accurate allowances to purchase quality products, no hidden "bumps" on minor changes to plans. The home was completed and ready for occupancy as promised. During the construction stages Peter was available to answer all my questions and address all concerns I had. Phone call and emails were answered immediately or within a reasonable amount of time to gather the required information.
