One of my best experiences working with a contractor. Anca is the best. And her coworkers are detailed and do a professional job. No complaints at all! I manage 16 offices and deal with contractors all the time and Anca is one of the best! Would recommend to anyone looking for professionalism and skill.

We had a remodeling project that was originally estimated to take two months. Due to some unexpected repairs and delays from city agencies that give out permits, it took much longer. The project eventually completed, however, it was not as smooth or pleasant as it could have been. Things started out very well in the beginning, however, quality has decreased over time.
Pros
- Initial assessment was very thorough, VDC took time to assess the whole house. Most other contractors just looked around and didn’t even attempt to look into details.
- They made a lot of suggestions on how to do things and explained pros and cons but ultimately left the decision up to us
- Project actually completed
- They do work a lot, we would often have phone calls late at nightCons:
- Project management: In the beginning VDC was on top of things, however, overtime it became apparent that without our involvement things would not move. For example, at first VDC was doing their part in applying for permits about soon after they stopped following up and it was up to us to try to get an appointment.
- Client communication: One of the two partners is very confrontational. When disagreement arose he would become pretty hostile.
- Planning: it happened more than once that we were asked to make decision on the stop that could have easily been predicted (eg. contractor was on the way to the store and ask what light fixture he needed to get in the next 10 minutes,
- Trust: In many ways we relied on contractor to make decisions since they were professionals. However, over the course of the project this trust eroded. We always relied on second opinion to double check their assessments and had to double check the work. Toward the end of the project we started recording everything i written form as we had disagreements on decisions made in the past
- Communication: There were several incidents that could have easily been resolved with just a bit more communication.
- Dedication: in the beginning things were very well, however, overtime (especially since there were delays due to city permits), it became clear that our project became secondary to VDC. It is understandable that contractors can work on multiple projects at once but it seems like they just wanted to get this project out of the way leading to taking shortcuts.
- Reliability: it happened on several occasions that certain milestones were not done on time. When VDC said that a certain piece of project would be completed in a week and it took an extra week to be done. This happened over and over again.Neutral
- Project was about 25 - 30% higher in cost (+ time) because of unexpected changes. This had to do more with the age of the house -

Anca and Oscar were very comprehensive from beginning to end. They were prompt, on-time, and communicated well. Pricing was reasonable with no cost overruns. As a first-time small business owner, this was very helpful. I would definitely use them again for any renovations.

I needed a local contractor to help with several projects, it was very convenient to have them so close. We worked very well, they had great ideas and I was able to save money. They assisted me with materials purchase so I liked all the help I got. I recommend!

I contacted VDC Construction for a commercial project. I was opening a private gym and needed help with several items including interior painting. I wanted someone local, licensed and with a good reputation. I'm very pleased with the work they've done. They were very professional, quick and able to work with my budget. I have already recommended them to other clients.

We were very pleased with Vida de Colores. They were very responsive and easy to schedule and communicate with. Oscar and his team did a great job patching and painting all the holes in our walls and ceilings ... and they even finished one day ahead of schedule. I will definitely call them again if we need any further patch or painting work.

I interviewed a few painters for my recent paint job. What stood out most was Oscar and his team member"s conducted a very thorough inspection of the building and provided a detailed cost estimate. They pointed out damaged areas that I was't previously aware of. Their attention to details helped provide a more precise estimate. I felt that Oscar"s team was by far the most honest and knowledgeable contractors after my comparisons. Oscar was very informative throughout the process by pointing out areas which required repair and making me feel that my property was being taken care of. He is an experienced painter and contractor who knows the value and purpose of his work. I have been in the real estate industry for over 35 years and worked with many contractors. VDC Construction did water remediation and repair in my hair salon, completely redoing my flooring, part of my subfloor, sheet rocking walls and ceiling, and repainting. They also built new cabinets and reinstalled my various fixtures. Very hands on, extremely communicative, and done in the estimated time on-budget! Totally recommend working with Anca and her team!
