After the Hurricane we contracted VT contractors to install a roof on our house that was damaged. The management had to be called several times because of the on site workers poor workmanship. They even went so far as to put roofing tar over a big hole in the roof from were a tree limb had went through the roof. I had to stop work and make them go back and repair the area prior to proceeding with the work. None of the workers spoke English. The drank beer on top of my house throughout the day while installing the roof. Another liability that I did not need. I realize the hurricane stretched our local resources but being from the Moss Bluff Louisiana area I thought I was doing the right thing bye keeping my business local. Needless to say being a homeowner and staying on top of everything these people did throughout the entire installation is the only reason they did not try to take more short cuts. The crew that VT had on my job were totally unsupervised and pretty much did what they wanted to. My numerous complaints to VT contractors office management were received but I did not ever see any positive work changes or ethics in the crews work. The job did finally get completed. The crew left a mess in my yard everyday and me and my wife had to clean up after them. i used VT contractors because they were recommended from a friend of mine. So in closing I will never use this contractor again due to lack of quality work and management supervision. I have other outside work to be completed but did not give that work to them due to I did not have time to supervise these people everyday to get a good quality product. My father in law was going to have then repair his roof but after the trouble we had cancelled his work with them. In closing being in Refinery Chemical Reliability Inspection or 34 years I have a lot of experience with Industrial Contractors. Highly recommend that VT contractors investigate these type of internal issues and try to improve on the quality of craftsman they hire to include have supervision checking on there work sites as the work progresses daily.
