    Screened Porch and Deck
    $20,800
    250 days

My experience with Kevin Boone, owner of Wall to Wall Construction (aka W2W Construction), was an extremely poor one to say the least. We ran into multiple issues with him during the recent construction of our screened porch and deck, including lies, lack of professionalism, and ignorance of construction codes. Two months into a job that was supposed to take four weeks, he abandoned the job site and never returned. He left the job with thousands of dollars of remaining work. Unfortunately, we paid him in advance for the majority of the remaining work. He refused to respond to multiple pleas to finish the work or refund us, including a letter from our lawyer. Save yourself a mountain of grief, frustration, and money. DO NOT consider Wall to Wall Construction for your next project. Specifically: His project was poorly managed. • The job was originally promised to be completed in 4 weeks. Two months after construction started he abandoned the job and never returned, leaving a heap of construction debris behind. His actions were dishonest and contradictory. • He asked for half of the quoted payment at the time of contract signing for materials, but 7 weeks into the job he admitted to not purchasing composite decking specified in the contract. He complained that material costs had increased during that time period. • He used city inspections as an excuse for delaying work. I later contacted the Indianapolis Department of Code Enforcement, and they indicated no inspection was completed nor required around the dates of his delays. • He underbid the project by 20% and requested payment of that portion when the job was roughly half complete. • As part of the underbid amount he claimed that he needed to increase his charge for electric work due to codes that he was unaware of when he wrote the quote. When we later explained the original electrical plan to other contractors and electricians each of them confirmed that the work would not have violated a code. He never completed the electrical work or returned our money. • He failed to meet multiple promised milestone dates, even ones in writing. • He refused to respond at our multiple written requests to finish the job. When we stopped receiving communication from him, we requested our money be refunded to us through our lawyer. Again he refused to communicate. When my wife eventually spoke to him on the phone a few months after he abandoned the job, he told an incoherent story full of contradictions. He indicated that we would owe him more money above and beyond that outlined in the contract and the additional payment we made in order for him to complete the job. We obviously did not want him to return to our house. His communication was poor. • I continually needed to ask for updates because no activity was occurring on the job site for long stretches of time. • When I made requests for updates, he would generally not respond quickly, if he responded at all. • His crew would show up sporadically. On more than one occasion they showed up at our house in the morning, left a few minutes later for no apparent reason, and then didn’t come back. • I often had to remind him of the commitments that he had made to me verbally. The contradictions were so bad that I felt the need to have every communication in writing. His actions were unprofessional. • He made excuse after excuse for his delays, such as heat, rain, couldn’t find an electrician to do the work, there was a death in an electrician’s family, needing multiple days for city inspections, and running out of money for the project (although we paid at each milestone in the contract and made an extra payment for his underbid work). His problems directly became my problems as his customer. That is no way to run a business. • His crew left cigarette butts in our yard. I had to pick them up before letting our children play in the yard. • When questioned about the inadequate roof/ceiling design that was originally quoted, he responded sarcastically, “This isn’t the Taj Mahal.” • He spoke the words “it’s not my fault” multiple times, when it was clear that he had made mistakes in his design plans. He spoke in a condescending manner when questioned about his design and the details of the underbid parts of the project. • The company that I hired to complete the job identified several design flaws by Mr. Boone, which needed to be addressed in order to meet building codes and prevent wood rot. Two sets of steps, one railing, and all of the exterior siding (all installed by Mr. Boone's crew) had to be repaired.

    Screened Porch and Deck
    $20,000
    300 days

We paid Kevin Boone, owner of Wall to Wall Construction, nearly in full for construction of a screened porch and composite deck. Mr. Boone completed approximately half of the work and then abandoned the job. We have tried unsuccessfully to get a refund of the money for the work that was never completed. We were conned. Don't let it happen to you.
