    New house build

    Not much “custom” about it. Multiple areas of unlevel trim, rough looking finishes, fixtures installed backwards, etc….The one positive Wade Custom Homes has going for them is Allen Strickland. His willingness to text you back, pick up a phone, and respond to your questions is greatly appreciated. He seems to actually care & understand building a home is not all about the amount of money you can make, but more importantly, it is about the people who are trusting you with their family’s forever home and also that the family in many cases like ours has saved an entire lifetime to create. Unfortunately, many other areas in this company are lacking. Think long and hard before choosing a builder for your forever…..we chose this builder because of the reviews from friends and others online who had Rodney Wade as their builder. What we have found during this process is MANY poor reviews by word of mouth not only from customers, but also businesses, and people around our area. I chose them because we wanted to keep our business local to the area. Very soon after signing our contract in June 2021, we started to hear others who had some rather unpleasing comments about this builder. At this point it was too late to turn back and everyone deserves a chance was our motto. We will forever remember the entire process as an incredibly frustrating and stressful time in our lives and much of that feeling unfortunately is a direct response to this builder and the way they do business. From the very beginning, we noticed an issue with communication on their part, not getting back to us or even answering emails/calls. After contacting the secretary in attempt to get a meeting with Rodney to voice our concerns in regards to the people we were having issues with, we soon found out this business had been sold from Rodney Wade to someone else something this business failed to mention to us.
    We were quoted 6-8months for this process closer to 8 months. We have been charged an exorbitant amount of money in overages from the mortgage company because the builder went past their end date for the build. There is a real lack of check and balance for builders in our state. If we were told at the beginning 12 months or longer, if the mortgage company was told from the beginning 12 months or longer, ALL of those fees could have been avoided. I realize things like covid and supply issues are out of the builder’s control. Our issue was with lack of people present at the job site (at times 3 weeks or more without seeing a soul), lack of communication or even willingness to communicate when asked questions/emailed, lack of caring about our situation and their job performance. When I have to tell a builder a pole barn is set into the wrong place because we can’t walk into a wall-- after it has already been set in concrete, when I have to point out a light in a pantry was never cut out by the drywall person, when we constantly have to ask “when are you going to replace the broken window in our daughters bedroom” (has been significantly cracked for months), when I have to constantly ask why has our wood been sitting on the ground since before Christmas and is now rotten—is this going into my roof? These are the types of things a “good builder” would have a real project manager checking on and fixing. I would rather people be honest with me and me not like what they are saying than to be lied to or treated like I don’t matter. When I pay likely twice as much as something is worth due to covid and increased prices, then I also expect that type of customer service to be provided to me. It appears one of the current owners of Wade Custom Homes has forgotten the true meaning of great customer service. If you are searching for a builder, my suggestion is to look elsewhere, because this company has also failed to realize they are in a small community where reputation and word of mouth is everything and based on what we have been through and from what we have heard recently over the last year they are definitely losing theirs.
