    $31
    Verified Hire
    Other Flooring project

Absolutely horrible! Do not recommend! Do not hire! Only giving one star because there isn’t an option for zero stars.

I hired him to install vinyl flooring in an entire home. The reason for doing the whole house was because a couple of rooms needed done but I wanted it all to match. We thought that with his years of experience, we would get quality work. Wrong! This was a complete botched job and looks like he’s never done this before after saying he has been doing this for 50 years.

He requested half of payment as deposit. Then, when job is halfway done, he wanted half of the remaining amount and then the rest when job was finished. Before he finished halfway, we noticed a lot of issues. He hired a guy he approached at a storage building not long before this, and asked him to come work with him. This was the first flooring job he had done with him. When he stated he was halfway done, I told him I was not giving him the amount requested until all damages and errors were fixed. I was generous and gave an additional $600. He kept telling me he had fixed everything but nothing had been touched.

He had removed perfectly good flooring from rooms he hadn’t gotten to yet in order to install the new vinyl flooring but because their work was so bad, I cannot let them finish and now I’m out of perfectly good flooring that I was only replacing so that it matched the other flooring. I did not ask for quarter round but every time we pointed out bad cuts, he would just say he was going to “make it look good” and cover it up with the quarter round. The cuts were so bad, It didn’t even cover it. They started by nailing the vinyl planks to the subfloor! And when I addressed this, they tried to lie and say that’s how it’s done. They tried to hide the nails but weren’t even good at that. He used a miter saw INSIDE the house and made a huge mess. He cut everything with it instead of using other tools that would have made things easier, proving the didn’t really know what they were doing. When I asked why he was doing it in the house, he said they didn’t feel like walking in and out of the house to do it. There is a deck on the back that they could have used. I had an antique and a brand new table that they decided to use for their use and caused damages. There are huge gaps and the planks are sticking up. He got the wrong things for thresholds, that shouldn’t have been needed, and nailed them to the floor when the directions clearly state not to nail and they are way too small for the doorway!

He didn’t want to provide receipts initially but after I finally got them, there was an electrical outlet and breaker purchased. We asked why because he insisted all funds were used to purchase items for this job. He says his employee had to replace an outlet and breaker but yet he doesn’t know why. Nothing was ever mentioned to us about this and it was not approved seeing how they are not licensed electricians, therefore, im not sure what damage they have caused in regard to that.

He likes to say that he’s been doing this for 50 years and he’s never had complaints like this. Well, for one, this is the first time he’s done flooring with this guy, and just because his other customers didn’t know any better or notice it before hand, doesn’t mean he did it right. I have pictures of the horrible job and damages

We had to tell him that his employee wasn’t allowed back because we have cameras inside and outside of the home and was caught making physical threats toward me for calling him out on his errors and poor quality work and demanding for the damages to be fixed. Without him, Warren says he is not able to lift things and Warren blamed his own bad cuts on his vision because he can’t work well with his glasses on. So therefore, he isn’t capable of properly completing the job in his own. I had to keep trying to contact him about him getting the job done. At this point we have come to the agreement for him to return a portion of the money that was paid and for him to pay for the house to be cleaned in order to clean up his mess from using the saw inside the house. He also left the empty flooring boxes in the middle of the yard for over a week even after being asked to clean it up and that there was no reason to of left it there. I had to go clean it up myself because I had other people coming to do work and it was in their way. Since that incident, there was more trash thrown in the yard. He still hasn’t even come to clean that up. I have been more than generous with providing sufficient time for him to find another employee and now returning payment. this has been ongoing since September so now it appears we will have to take legal action.

Take down old patio roof build new roof with gutters and steps with landing and railings

I am thrilled! He started when he said they would, the crew was considerate and the clean up was thorough. They tore down the old and built me a new patio roof and stairway. It is beautiful and it was a delightful experience.
