Way to Go Builders

A steep slope in the backyard made the space unusable, so a retaining wall was the solution. Tony led the team through design, getting the materials and construction. They worked with stone masonry for strength and a natural finish. Rebar and drainage were placed before stacking the stone, which shows how much attention went into the details. The wall has completely stabilized the yard and added usable flat space that wasn’t possible before.

Fitting a pool into the back corner of our yard wasn't a simple job, but Way To Go Builders figured it out. They installed a large angled pool with a full Baja shelf that runs nearly 10 feet across. It includes built-in umbrella sleeves and wide steps that double as seating. All the underground work was well coordinated with our landscaper, and they left the site clean and protected every day. The finishing includes textured concrete decking and a raised beam on one end. It has transformed the space.

Our old driveway had deep cracks and poor drainage, so we chose a complete replacement. Way To Go Builders demolished the old slab, hauled it away, and regraded the site. A new drainage channel was installed along the side to redirect water, which had been pooling near the garage. They laid a compacted gravel base, set rebar reinforcement, and poured nearly 1,500 sq. ft. of fresh concrete. Control joints were added to prevent future cracking, and the broom finish looks sharp while offering good traction.

The driveway required a city permit, and inspectors came at both the rebar and final stages—everything cleared smoothly. What stands out most is how much wider and safer it feels. Vehicles fit comfortably, and the drainage system is working as intended. The difference between the old failing slab and this new one is huge. It’s a complete transformation and a long-term fix.

Instead of a full rebuild, we focused on replacing the worn deck and redoing the coping. The pool itself stayed the same shape, but we added a darker tile and swapped out the old concrete deck for a modern stone look. It didn’t require a full tear-out, but the difference in look is immediate. Looks better, functions better, and doesn’t feel like an old space anymore.
