  Build/buy a house

  Unfortunately, I had a very similar experience as Tony. Whoever Jim Marsh subs out to work for him for carpentry, tiling, etc. is terrible with zero integrity in their work (it could be him for all I know). We have bathroom floor tile in two different lots (same bathroom, 2 slightly different colors installed), siding that wasn't installed properly so it comes off when windy, a deck with way too many nails because they couldn't get them through properly to the board below, hardly anything is plumb or square, windows so drafty I have to use plastic in the winter on NEW CONSTRUCTION, sliders that aren't sized properly to close and keep out wind, landscaping included in the warranty, died, and never replaced after repeated emails and texts and patience, cabinet crowning not cut properly with gaps, screws poking out of cabinets, leaky pipes between floors, door moulding broken but installed anyway, drywall with screws popping through, hydro-WEEDING, not seeding for a lawn, sections of stone tailings used in place of loam so grass won't grow, etc. etc. Jim is all about buying up small lots that no one wants, throwing a house up fast, and walking away with the cash. He couldn't even be bothered to stay at the closing to address issues because he was so important and busy. You will never get what you're promised. You will have to chase and hound him and still be stuck with an inferior product. It's 2019 and I'm still waiting on things promised in 2016. Stay away.

  I purchased a home from West Bay a few months ago and the experience has been a nightmare. The builder is extremely condescending and very rude if you do not source something through his suppliers. Furthermore, his real estate agent was probably one of the least professional people I've ever dealt with. After weeks of asking when they need appliances, landscaping, or electrical fixtures delivered, we would be told the day of that they needed them here now. The spec sheet that we agreed to when the P&S agreement was signed did not match the house that was constructed. When we brought this to his attention, he became very agitated and started to yell during our closing--throwing a tantrum and saying he was going to refuse to close unless we agreed to a change in our spec sheet. Our real estate agent, attorney, and loan officer all said that they had never seen anything like it before, and couldn't believe someone would act in such a way. Overall, I would never buy another house from West Bay Homes, or Jim Marsh.
