I asked Wally Baird to evaluate a log cabin home I was interested I purchasing. On site, he described the log species, the log processing at the factory, and the build of the cabin. He took the time to show me the many issues related to this particular cabin, mostly due to the improper maintenance of the logs. He carefully showed me the difference between well maintained logs and the ones comprising this cabin. He further took time to describe and discuss the proper method for the building of a log cabin, and the proper maintenance of the logs once the cabin is built. I am so thankful that he evaluated the cabin. He helped me realize the scope of the cabin restoration, which was beyond my budget. He further had informative comments on the location of the house, the utilities, and the foundation. Wally is extremely knowledgeable about log cabins and house construction in general. We were very grateful when Wally Baird of Western Heritage Construction came to help address our cabin needs. We have a 9 inch Swedish cope log home in the Prescott area that had sealing, damage, and deterioration issues. We were relieved to have his extensive history in log home design, construction, and restoration help guide us through the work that was needed. Wally explained what was happening with the logs and suggested corrective measures to restore them and maintain the integrity of the walls. He also recommended an energy seal to improve thermal efficiency and interior living quality. We were very pleased with the results. The workmanship was high quality and the logs were restored to a condition that could be properly maintained. Wally provided follow up care instructions, including the right products to use. We were also surprised to find that with the energy seal, the cabin was at least 10 degrees warmer inside with only ambient heating. Aside from that, Wally is a very nice guy with a good sense of humor and great to work with.

Wally and his team built our new log home near kachina village. His knowledge of building log homes the right way, is second to none. If your looking for a fast log home build, then Wally isn’t your guy. His team is precise and don’t cut corners, quality takes time. Our new home is beautiful and built to last a lifetime, most likely several lifetimes.

Western Heritage Construction recently completed a complete exterior renovation of my two story log cabin home in Flagstaff. They did an outstanding job. Western Heritage rescued our log-sided home from problems associated with prior improper log treatment. The process was extremely thorough and complex, which a prior contractor paid to re-treat the log siding failed to do. Pressure washing, sanding, and weather treating, followed by staining and double clear coating. A lot of labor involved, so not cheap, but you get what you pay for, in this case expertise, attention to detail, and quality results.
