We unfortunately did hire Westward Renovation to manage the construction of an addition on our home. Quickly after we signed the contract and paid our deposit, the quality and timeliness of the communication dropped off precipitously. We had enrolled in their Build Savvy program, and once things got going we were disappointed to see that they had no organizational structure for managing the many decision to be made, no project kickoff or overview to lay out the process, and very little communication about important decisions like contractor selection. Once construction began things went from bad to worse. They hired an inexperienced framer to do the vast majority of the work, they were not responsive to our concerns as we started to witness problems with the build, and they provided no regular on site presence or supervision. After begging and pleading they finally committed to providing 1 hour per week of one of their own people to come â inspectâ the work, but this did little to prevent problems and oftentimes the project manager would not even take the recommendations of his own staff. Over time we learned they had deviated from the engineering plans without approval from the engineer or county, they skipped multiple required inspections, and the work that was done was of poor quality. In addition to all that, they left our home exposed to rains during construction and we ended up with leaks and damaged drywall in 2 rooms of our existing home, for which they never took responsibility or addressed. When we pursued their liability insurance to cover the fixes, we sadly learned they were not even insured for the type of work they were doing at our house. We terminated our contract with Westward and are currently proceeding with a CCB complaint and likely taking them to court. Westwardâ s mismanagement of our house project resulted in unnecessary delays to the project, damage to our existing home, and poor quality construction. Learn from our experience and do not use this company!
