Terrible quality and unprofessional. Every part he touched needed to be redone. It set our remodel project back months. It took a lawsuit and contact with the BBB, attorney general, and licensing agency to get our money back.
I'm being kind with my review by keeping it short and sweet. There are many other options to go with.

We hired Wildman Drywall (Steve Coonradt, Owner) to install and finish drywall in our addition in October-November of 2017. The following is my assessment of his work, and my recommendation to others regarding using him to provide drywall services in the Salt Lake Valley.
In summary, should you not have the time or desire to read the rest of this review, you should choose someone who is truly a professional, and can provide quality work at a reasonable price. Wildman Drywall achieved neither on our project. I have broken his work down into the following areas and rated them on a 5-Star scale, 1 Star equating to “Unacceptable”, 2 Stars equating to “Poor”, 3 Stars equating to “Average”, 4 Stars equating to “Good”, and 5 Stars equating to “Excellent”.
• Initial Contact/Presentation of Bid: 4 Stars
• Showing Up on Jobsite/Keeping to Schedule: 3 Stars
• Drywall Team Communication: 2 Stars
• Drywall Team Installation Time: 4 Stars
• Drywall Team Quality of Work: 2.5-3 Stars
• Drywall Finishing Team Communication: 4 Stars
• Drywall Finishing Team Installation Time: 2 Stars
• Drywall Finishing Team Quality of Work: 1 Star
• Overall Cleanup of Job Site: 1 Star (Other than removing left over drywall pieces, cleanup was non-existent)
While we would all like contractors who excel at communicating when they will be on the job, and then actually showing up on time to do the work, I personally would have accepted a little less communication and better performance on the job. The drywall installation team was quick – 2.5 days to hang all of the drywall in our addition – but unfortunately their work was subpar. Problems I encountered with the drywall installation work included:
1. drywall not installed even with boxes requiring box extensions to make outlets flush with the wall,
2. getting insulation caught between framing members and the drywall which caused a visible bow in the wall,
3. Roto-zipping around electrical outlets and switches which provided no drywall backing for the outlet/switch to be tightened against
4. Cutting through and nicking electrical wiring when cutting out electrical boxes
5. Not driving screws completely which produced “nail pops” shortly after painting
But the biggest problems were yet to come. Mr. Coonradt brought in an assistant who he assured me was a capable and professional drywaller. Unfortunately, this proved to be false as the quality of this employee was lacking in both his time management as well as his skill. He routinely showed up hours after I was told to expect him, and often left within 20 minutes after Mr. Coonradt would leave to go work on another project. Then there were the obvious issues with his skill and his attention to detail. But that could be said of Mr. Coonradt as well.
On several occasions I had to call Mr. Coonradt back to “fix” issues such as ridges, air bubbles, obvious areas in the drywall that had not been “floated” properly to where seams were apparent. In fact, there was no single wall or ceiling that was passable as “paint-ready” which is what our contract called for. I finally tired of calling him back as it was taking too much time to move forward and get the job completed in a timely fashion. I took it upon myself to inspect every inch of his work, and found – much to my chagrin – that it appeared that no finish sanding had been performed as there were obvious defects to be found in the form of scratches from his sanding pole, ridges where drywall compound had been applied over seams and screws, areas where it appeared that only one coat of mud had been applied, and – did I mention? – many, many, many ridges which would have been harder to deal with once primed. All told, I spent an additional 55-60 hours sanding every inch of the addition to make it “paint ready”.
I was so put off by the quality of the work that I called him back to the house the week of Christmas and asked him to refund me 25% of the contracted price or pay me the same wages he paid his “employee” for the amount of time I had in finishing the work he was paid to do. He agreed to my demand, but asked for time since it was Christmas week. We had a verbal agreement that he was to contact me after the New Year, but no later than January 5th, and make payment to me.
He did not call after the New Year, and I decided to give him until January 17th to make payment. When he still had not contacted me, I contacted him asking him to make good on his promise, but he ignored my request. On January 25th I sent him a text message that has also gone unanswered. In short, he has shown his true colors, and has not made any recommendation on how rectify the issues.
So, in order to avoid experiencing the same debacle that I have, I highly recommend you choose someone who will not only provide quality work, but has the character to also rectify any issues that might come up.
