Run, don't walk away from having Williams Bros. and owner Rick do any work for you. This company/owner is deserving of negative stars.
In May 2024, Williams Bros. installed a new driveway at our home which is defective. The owner, Rick, did not keep to our verbal agreement on the type/amount of materials to use, the number of work days (promised 2 days - he rushed the job to 1 day). There are 10+ dips in the driveway, some are 1+" deep speed bumps. Rick took 2 or more barrels of our blacktop with his crew/equipment and patched or coated another homeowner's driveway to get more work. This blacktop was needed for my driveway which doesn't have enough material now! Apparently this may also be a common scam. See these for more info on the scam: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHZAZM-PFk4; https://pavingprosraleigh.com/5-ways-to-identify-an-asphalt-paving-scam-before-it-happens/. I reviewed issues with Rick in real time. He insisted that dips were "shadows" & would reduce over time. I explained that the "shadows" can be felt & measured - this is no optical illusion & will get worse. He finally acknowledged the dips and that I was right that it needed more blacktop. He told me there was nothing he could do about it now but patch it but it wouldn’t look right. He stated that I would not feel the bumps in the car. With no resolution in sight, we agreed that I should call Rick after living with the driveway a bit. I called twice since finding more dips & waves which can be felt in the car. Rick never returned my calls. Instead, he texted me a bunch of nonsense, stating that I was happy with the work (not true - I have video/audio of our conversation) and that he complied with standards (must be his own low standards). Lastly, we purchased lunch for his crew at their request as Rick didn't provide water/food for them.
With no resolution from Rick, I raised a Better Business Bureau (BBB) complaint #21757634 to facilitate a refund as the driveway must be ripped up and replaced. Through the BBB process, Rick showed his lack of values and ethics by lying about everything from the agreement we had, how the job was executed and his guarantee, while trying to gaslight and slander me along the way. Truly incredible lack of character. These issues will now move ahead with other agencies.
Most recently deep tire marks, holes and crumbling and detaching blacktop has occurred.
Save yourself the considerable cost and hassle and don’t even think about using Williams Bros. or Rick. Go with a reputable company instead.
