I recently had a pop up drain break. I called Cropp Metcalfe because of their five star technician rating and also I use them for my HVAC needs and have been pleased with their service. However, I was not at all pleased with the cost to replace this part. The plumber pulled out his price book and charged me $311.00 (that was the discount price) for this part. I was astounded. After doing research on the internet the next day, I found out the SAME part sells anywhere from $17.00 to $20.00. I was also quoted a price of $191.00 to replace a part inside the commode which I know from experience costs no more than $20.00 to replace. I feel as though I was ripped off big time and I have been a loyal HVAC customer for many years now. I am very disillusioned as to how this company can get away charging such ridiculous prices. This is outrageous. Even the plumber suggested that I could get another company to fix the $191.00 part at a cheaper price. This tells me even he felt the price was so ridiculous. I received a price quote for a new toilet from the same company and was told I could get a new toilet for only a few hundred dollars more than the cost of the pop up drain which is a relatively small part in comparison to a toilet!. This does not seem logical to me. Although the plumber was very nice and courteous, I will think twice before ever using their plumbing services again.
