We purchased a home that was built by WJ Homes and as any first time home buyers, we walked in during the open house excited that this could be our new home. Instead of looking at every detail of the house, we imagined our family in the space and growing with the house. We looked at how the rooms looked like and assigned which kid would get which room, how the couches would be, etc. When we won the bid and moved in we started to notice just how amateur the house was built. The wall socket plates aren't big enough for some of the squares they cut out in the wall. A part of the cabinet isn't even painted. The island in the kitchen doesn't cover the hole in the hardwood floor they cut. The drywall screws in some of the rooms are protruding out and I'm assuming that means the walls are sinking? I'm not even sure. When I had my garage motor put in from Lowes, they mentioned that the rail wasn't completely straight so sometimes the garage door motor (1hp) won't close this light weight door and I have to go kick the rail for the door to close. I feel like someone just watched HGTV and thought to themselves, "I could build a house now". There are many other things I could point out but one of the final things I'll say is that the front door doesn't sit right. You'd assume the door would block light from entering through the door cracks but no, the seal they used doesn't block it all and the door is at an angle too so it's just all messed up. I would stay away from a house built by this builder. Apparently the contractor who is building on the lot next to us knows who built my house so I hope he does a better job than my builder did. I know now that I should go into an open house with my attention to detail eyes and find anything that may be wrong.
