    Bathroom and laundry room remodel

His team came in and done demolition after about 6 months and then never came back. It’s been well over a year And a half. I am in the same boat as all the other people. He stole around 18,500 from me for a bathroom remodel. We have an attorney. Is anybody getting anywhere with him? My attorneys can’t seem to locate him to serve papers.

    Bathroom addition
    $7,800

I had the same experience as everyone else. In April of 2021, I paid a 40% deposit for a bathroom addition in Nashville and never had any work done, definitely seems like a scam. Please contact me at [email protected] if thinking about a class action suit.

It's going on 11 months and I can't get my addition or get a refund from Wood Construction. They have disabled their web site and deleted their Facebook page.
They have changed the name to Custom Homes by Wood run by the same Joe Wood. They use the same phone number. They are under investigation by the states of TN and NC authorities for fraud as well as criminal investigation for fraud by several county sheriff departments..

Signed contract for addition on 11/6/2020. Still waiting 11 months later. Won't refund my $48,000 and won't build the addition. Lies, lies, lies.

    interior and exterior remodel
    $170,000

We hired Wood Construction and Remodeling LLC and signed a contract on February 2,2021 for a home remodel, suppose to be a 12 week project, we are now in September going into October, gave them over $80,000 and they have abandoned the job and dozens of others. Do Not Hire! Any 5 star reviews are friends and family members, believe all the 1 star reviews. This company is running a PONZI SCHEME and the TBI and Attorney General along with the NC departments are investigating. Worst experience of my life!

    Bathroom
    $5,000

After receiving a quote from Keith Woodley, we signed a contract and gave him a check for $1120 as a deposit. Before they were to start my bathroom remodel, I had a mold Inspection done. We learned the subflooring under the tub needed to be replaced due to a long standing slow leak present before we bought the house. I reported this to Michael Johnson, who said the subfloor job was an add on and needed to be paid ahead of starting. So. Michael Talbot picked up a check for $985. He sent a man who didn't know how to turn the water off, to demo the bathroom. That was the end of any communication from anyone from Wood Construction. No response to my demand for refund. NOTHING. I filed a complaint with Consumer Affairs, and they are conducting an investigation. Please file a complaint with them. There are possible criminal charges if everyone scammed by this company comes forward. These are criminals, and they need to be reported. Message me if you want to share and support.

    Bathroom addition and remodel
    $35,000

We signed a contract for a bathroom addition and bathroom remodel in Nashville, TN on 4/27/21. As of September 9, no work has been done. We have been asking for a refund of our $14,000 we paid for 3 weeks now. Official certified letters have been sent with no response from Leighton "Joe" Wood or CEO Jeff Sabins.

Keith Woodley was the sales person who received our check and signed our contract. Project Managers Michael Johnson and Michael Talbott were our main contacts in Nashville. Lindsay Lloyd out of Johnson City was the administrator who attempted to help us but eventually stopped responding to us, just like all of the others. Darren "Dean" Weaver was recently hired to handle the angry customers who have been ripped off by this company but he only offers services to be scheduled even though countless delays due to no funding for subcontractors who have already provided services or late pay checks to employees caused our multiple month delay. This company's own website even says it's closed but he refuses to cancel our contract. Countless emails, texts, phone calls, letters all ignored by project managers and upper management. We have filed formal complaints with the BBB, TN Contractor's Board and TN Dept of Consumer Affairs. If anyone else has been harmed by this company and wants to band together for a civil suit please message me.

    Home Addition

Please be VERY careful before you give Wood Construction any money. They have literally stolen over $9k from me. I gave them $9200 to start a home addition. The county denied the permit because of the location of my home so Wood Construction said they would refund my money. I've given more than enough time and patience as it's a very simple, straightforward process that shouldn't take more than a few days. I work very hard for my money and it's very upsetting that a company would just literally steal it.

I do not enjoy giving this review. I believe in honesty, integrity and fairness therefore I will update my review once I receive my refund. So if this review has a one star it's because I still haven't received my refund. The refund was submitted by the project manager on 07/23/21.

    Bathroom Remodel
    $30,000

We hired the company in November of 2020 to install a walk in tub and expand the bathroom for my elderly mother. Chris, the initial project manager, seemed helpful and trustworthy. The reviews for the company were good at the time, and we needed support for my mother. Once we paid 9800 for the deposit, the true colors were shown. I heard nothing from the company afterward and called Chris who said he didnâ t work there anyone. We had to initiate all communication over the past year with little response. I donâ t have time to hunt down people for status updates! Three project managers later and many months after the estimated completion date, nothing was done. I was informed that the company approved a cancellation and refund and we would receive documentation. We were excited to find someone to do the renovation and help my elderly mother. That was too easy. No email, no contact, and that project manager later informed me that he also quit. Interestingly, when trying to find a contact to answer my questions, I discovered that the original project manager still works there. No one responds to your phone calls, emails, etc. Susannah, Chris, Jeff, and Joe are questionable individuals who take your money and deliver nothing.. I could not sleep at night knowing I had stolen from people and deliberately prevented an elderly person from receiving the support they need. The bottom line, avoid with all cost. Just burn your moneyâ ¦at least you will get heat from the fire. Thatâ s more than you will get from there.

    one-room addition

I would give the company negative stars, but there appears to be no option for that. I signed a contract with Wood Construction and Remodeling after a pitch from Hunter Beedle--in November 2020, and paid a deposit of $19,391.40 for a one-room addition. The work was to start the first week of January 2021 and be finished by the end of that month. Nothing has happened. This is now mid-August 2021. Nine months of runarounds, lies and false promises from a succession of project managers and supervisors. In February 2021 I got one drawing that was NOT what they agreed to build for me, totally unacceptable, and a drawing of a roof rafter (!). The latest project manager came to visit twice, bringing his family with him to testify to his integrity, to assure me that he was going to make up for his predecessors. His newest boss has called me twice, told more lies. The only permit they've pulled was in July--for septic. There was to be no plumbing in my addition, it is far away from my septic field, and was to involve no excavation. Mike Johnson called me twice, complained that I had filed a negative review about the company on HomeAdvisor (he said, "I thought we were friends, Karen!"), promised me a call about progress in a week. He did not call again. When I tried to call him, his phone was disconnected. I asked for my deposit back last February, got a "screw you" email from the company. A week ago I left a message for Carlene Harbin, the office manager and/or partner, again asking for my money back. I just learned that she has resigned. I'm forced now to hire a lawyer. I am an 80-year-old veteran, cannot make that deposit money over again, and I am running out of years to use my addition. Likely I will be out my deposit and have huge legal bills now, but Wood cannot be allowed to keep getting away with cheating people. He's essentially running a Ponzi scheme, taking deposits to keep his company afloat. I've not only wasted money that could have been growing in an investment account. I've wasted hours and hours and days meeting, emailing and phoning these people, and doing my own homework on design and construction because they were not producing. As a result, I have missed deadlines with my own work.

    Whole house gut and remodel
    $70,000

Joe Wood hires his drinking buddies to pose as “project managers” and has a former local football star to sell projects that never get built. Instead he takes down payments to pay more sales people. They have NO TRADESMEN, NO CREWS. They got over $30,000 from us and we waited and waited and finally FIVE MONTHS after the contract sign date we asked for it back and my husband got a lawyer. They never did a bit of work and ripped off many many other people too. These creeps will lie to you about everything. They post dozens of fake 5 star reviews everywhere because they have a full time “social media” executive to cover their as$es online.
They made me POOR and I can’t do anything else so I got a poster board and wrote “JOE WOOD / WOOD CONSTR. REMODEL STOLE $30K FROM ME” and I park in the handicap spaces (because I’m very disabled) at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe’s, at big banks (ECU, First Horizon) and at big intersections where everyone can see. I hope Joe Wood and his wife drive by in their $80,000 trucks and see. I hope they get no more VICTIMS. All they do is advertise really, so I’m going to advertise too.

    Full house remodel
    $69,000

Stay away from Wood Construction and Remodeling, LLC. They are ripoff artists.

We signed a contract with Hunter Beedle of Wood Construction for over $69K for a whole house remodel on 2/26/21, and paid them more than 40 percent down. The contract called for work to begin within 30 days and completion 90 days after that. That was 5 months ago. Three different "project managers" have been out to the house and met with us, and a couple of times they even brought supposed subcontractors, but still no work has been done. No permits pulled, no timeline of when work would even start, let alone finish, no detailed plans but the ones we drew up ourselves. It is now clear that Wood never intended to do anything but steal our money.

Every new "project manager" and/or "supervisor" we have talked to has given us the same scripted spiel: "The problems you've had were not with me. That was my predecessor, and I'll take care of you." After hearing this at least 4 times, it became obvious that they were just shining us on.

On July 1st, I hand-delivered (also sent by certified mail) a letter to Wood cancelling the contract and demanding a refund. The next day, someone named Mike Johnson called us and said he was from the Nashville office of Wood and that he wanted to discuss how to fix our problem. We told him the fix was simple, just give us our money back. There's nothing to discuss. Then we hung up. We have heard nothing from Wood since then. The really hilarious bit is that when we attempted a few days later to call Mike Johnson back, the number he supposedly called from was not in service. The project manager said Johnson had a new phone number, but no one answered that number either.

On July 16th, we had another phone conversation with Mike Johnson, who agreed that we had been badly treated and he promised our money would be refunded by noon the following Monday. But at 9:30 am that morning, Wood "vice president" Jeff called and began reeling off a string of lies that didn't end until we hung up on him. No refund.

On the advice of our attorney, we have filed a criminal complaint with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, as well as a civil complaint with the Consumer Affairs Division of the Tennessee Attorney General's Office. Our attorney thinks we can easily prevail in civil litigation and get a judgement against Wood, but as an LLC (Limited Liability Company) Wood most likely has very few assets we can go after, so collecting on a judgement is probably not possible.

We are not the only people Wood has ripped off this way. Look at Wood's recent Google reviews for other examples. Aside from a bunch of obviously fake 5 star reviews, all of the other reviews are the minimum 1 star and they make it clear that on the rare occasions that Wood does any work at all, it is shoddy and usually incomplete.

Stay far away from these ripoff artists.

    Bathroom renovation
    $36,000

We signed our contract in May 4 and paid 40% in May 5. Our contract number is 3991. We were promised that the project will finish before the end of July. But today is July 21. Our project has not even started, no materials have been purchased. We call project manager every week, and have been given excuses every time, now there is no more excuse, just “don’t know”. We don’t know who is the person to really control our project and who are “They”. Before I signed this contract I told Keith Woodley that my husband cannot teach Summer class while doing renovation. So we must finish it by August 20, before Fall semester starts. Now 10 weeks have passed, nothing is happening and “they” even running out of excuses. Are we facing a scam? Why can’t they start and why no material has been purchased? How long we have to wait? We are truly regret to sign contract with Wood Construction, any company will finish our renovation by now. My daughter has signed an over $50k contract with other company two weeks ago. They are starting this Friday. If Wood Construction can’t start our project, please return our money back. We can always find other people to do it. It’s wrong to hold our money and do nothing. Mr. Wood please give us an answer.

    kitchen remodel
    $48,000

Wood Construction sold my contract to a subcontractor and initially lead me to believe the person I was interacting with was a project manager. It was not until the demolished my kitchen that I found out they were a sub. At this point it was too late for me to stop the project. My entire kitchen and appliances had been removed. It was at this point they decided to look at the plan and determined the structural beam they had would not support the weight and a new beam would have to be ordered. I was left without a kitchen and lights in the common areas of the house for over a month. The remodel reminded me of one of the house flipping shows on tv all I needed was cameras for the "we didn't expect that" scenes. The project started in March, it's now July and we are just completing. The subcontractor is located in another city apprx 1.5 hours from my residence so commuting was an issue for them. They also hired tradesmen who were local to them so they also would complain about the commute or refused to work on designated day. There was no protection for the home drywall dust covered every thing. I closed the doors to other rooms but there was not stopping it. They did not provide portable toilets so they had to use my bathrooms. Rolls of toilet paper were used. The exterior landscape of my home still has construction debris. I would not recommend hiring this company. My project was removal a support wall and full kitchen remodel.
