I had a terrible experience with Michael Scott and certainly would suggest that you not use him. When I was considering hiring him, he would not give me any references and I certainly understand why. He did good quality work and initially was timely in his work. Then as he neared the end of the work, with about a day's work to go, he literally begged me to pay him in full, although the contract only required me to pay him two-thirds at that stage. Foolishly, I did pay him all but $100 which means I had overpaid him $850, which was due only at completion. As I handed him the check, he smirked and said "you think I will cross the Bay Bridge for $100". Sure enough, that was the last I saw him. I wrote him numerous emails asking him to set a date when he would return to finish the job. He sent an previous undiscussed new invoice for $125 and said he would only return if I paid him that extra. Since I had no trust at this point I refused until he came back and finished the job. He wrote several rather crazy emails and after 26 days when he would not give me a return date I call the job abandoned and filed complaints with the MHIC. A terrible experience.
