minor carpentry work on dormers and some painting
    $3,450

I needed some boards replaced on my dormers and some chipped paint to be scraped and painted. I already had the boards and the paint to do what was needed. I retired and was moving to az. I contacted wright construction to see if they would do the job. My house was on the market and wanted these repairs to be done. Bill seemed pleasant over the phone. He went to see what the job was and agreed to do it for $1750. He was worried on how he was to be paid because I was in az. He didn't want personal checks or certified checks. I still had an account in ia, and could directly deposit the money into the account he stated - his wife's account. I put the first installment into the account and it was instantly there. Bill would call and update me on things; it was raining and couldn't do any work, or that he was cutting the boards and painting them to put up when it stopped raining. He told me there were some other issues and it would cost more, plus there was peeling paint and the realtor said that certain loans won't allow peeling paint. I had an offer on the house and it turned out to be that type of loan. So, now he wanted $3,450 to do a few boards on the dormers and fix chipped paint. I had an offer on the house, I felt pressured to get it done and behind me, so I agreed. He kept hinting and hounding me about the money and that he was worried he wouldn't get paid. I asked bill to do some character checks with my previous employer and neighbors. He refused, but kept saying he was worried about the money. I had made 2 payments into his account and, foolishly paid the final amount because bill said he would complete the work before the inspection. Well, I had a wedding to go to in ia and went home to see the work that I paid $3,450 for. I was stunned, sick to my stomach. He had not cut any boards and the paint job was very sloppy - light and missing in many areas and was dripped on the screens, windows and window framing. These were very expensive windows from american exteriors with argon gas filled panes. I was getting madder by the minute. I went to the garage and the boards were still there, just as I had left them. Bill wright had lied to me on multiple phone calls. Do not do business with wright construction! Run away as fast as you can. They didn't do the work they were hired to do and did damage to my home. They pressured me for double the original amount of money and I had to tap into my retirement savings. Do not hire wright construction! I filed a complaint with the BBB, but they did not get any responses from bill. I had called bill several times but he did not respond to any of my calls, texts or emails. Do not hire wright construction - bill wright is a liar and cheat. I hope that you have a sense about this guy. He took advantage of a situation. He sounded nice and pleasant, but is a crook. I see the nice reviews and I want to scream. He lied to me. He damaged my home and took a huge amount of my money that I need to live on and I am not happy about it. If you choose to do business with him after reading this review, you deserve to be taken. The reviews I saw on wright construction looked ok. My experience, not ok.
