Large Home Addition & Remodel
We are looking to start this project early winter but want to secure a contractor immediately. We unfortunately have a very fixed budget that we need to stick to in order for this to work. The house is a ranch that we are gut renovating, adding a tiny garage extension (to max out on lot coverage) and adding a second floor (and finishing attic level after COO). We were trying to preserve the existing house as much as possible so that this can be quoted as a renovation vs a new construction. I am getting mixed answers from contractors on using existing frame vs. taking down and just using existing foundation and footings. You can let us know what approach you think would be best or if you have other ideas for cost savings.
