Tell us about the last project you worked on, in as much detail as possible.

Hired to provide a diagnostic on a heat pump system less than 10 years old, installed by another contractor. I found the compressor failed, and I was not surprised to find the ducting was in terrible shape. The previous installation violated several codes, and overall displayed poor workmanship.

I discussed several options with the client, and they decided on a new system replacement. Developed and sketched a detailed plan (very important step many contractors don’t bother to do). Removed the heat pump, routed a new gas line from the meter to the new furnace location, replaced and enlarged a good portion of the ducting. Installed an additional return air to provide required air flow. Installed new furnace, evaporator coil, and air conditioner. All work was permitted, and installed per mfg. specifications.

The last project I worked on, the original contractor was leaving the homeowner high and dry. The homeowners had been living in a hotel for months while an addition was being onto their house. The contractor’s subs didn’t work weekends or past 5pm and always left a mess. One of the benefits I bring to the table is that I do work weekends and will work long nights if I need to, to make sure deadlines are met and that my customers are always happy.

Our very last project was the remodel of our own home in Tempe, AZ. We have downsized from a larger home to approx. 1600 s.f. and did a full remodel including two bathrooms and a kitchen. We replaced all popcorn ceilings and did stained concrete floors throughout. We served as both designers and general contractors on the project.

We remodeled a bathroom: demolished floors, replaced with new tile floors, demolished tub and installed with a walk in tub, put in new vanity new sink and a big mirror

Ohhh…City of Roseville CA. Citywide painting project. Both Interior and Exterior painting of various objects belonging to the City (Historical Theater, Sport Centers, Community Centers, Fire Stations, Adm offices etc.). Painted area approximately 195,000 sq.ft . ~1200 gallons of PPG paint.

Last project I just finished was remodeling a chiropractic clinic. It included relocating lighting fixtures, adding exit signs, installation of hot water tanks circuits, install outlets for power for special needs equipment and x-ray equipment, removal of circuits and clean up of panel.

One of our last jobs we did was a 2-layer tear off, walkable ranch style house. We also had a flat roof that tied into shingle roof. We removed all roofs and then we check for bad wood. If there is any, this is an extra charge, which is on the extras page. We also check for loose roof deck and re nail before installing the ice & water shields per City Code and then Synthetic felt papers and snapped lines to insure quality workmanship [this is what most companies don’t do anymore]. Without doing this, you take a big chance of the roof not turning out good. After all felts are on and the base sheet on flat roof, we install 24 gauge metal valley system which we call a W - Form with a high Tec paint finish. Most contractors have shingles in the valleys. Pulled up 1 skylight the original builder put way to close to the valley along with a plumbing vent pipe which we had moved by a professional plumbing contractor. For the skylight, we went to a 2x2 instead of a 2x4 which took it far enough away from valley. Installed CertainTeed Landmark Pro Dimensional roof a Shingle Vent 2 Ridge System, with lead flashings on the plumbing vent pipes instead of the cheap rubber ones [quality first]. Flat roof was a CertainTeed GTA Mod - System with granules. We doubled product where it ties into shingle roof, then installed 4x4 metal and stripped in with product. When the roof was complete we started on the siding - Soffit & Fascia. First thing we do is take the customer to the house pointing certain things out, which in turn the other contractors never brought up. Some areas of old wood siding had to be replaced or screwed off before installing House Wrap. Next, tape house wrap around all window openings. Fur areas of walls out to make wall flush and also install 1x3 around windows to make them stand out more and trim in. Soffit & Fascia was installed before siding. We opened up soffit areas to get more ventilation, installed fascia’s and then gutters using inside brackets instead of spikes and ferrules which look bad. Downspouts were 3x4 for better drainage. Home owner told us all that of all the times they have hired a contractor, none has ever kept them in the loop. Great for us. Treat the customer right and keep them in the loop as much as possible. We have our own dump truck which means at the end of the day we can take it home or park on the street.

David Jensen, Reliant Construction: We are building a Dickeys BBQ and a Indoor Shooting range. There is 26,000 sq ft under one roof on this project. The pour in place walls are 8" thick and 120 ft long; we have 625 yards of concrete on this project, The BBQ also has a banquet hall attached.

A Bathroom in Lexington, MA: We gutted the room to the studs. We removed the old shower walls and removed the floor tiles without damaging the copper pan. Moved the sink vent back into the
wall for a continuous wall without any bump outs in the length of the wall. Two new windows were installed. Insulated the outside walls, then hung blue-board on walls and ceiling. A new shower mixing valve was installed. Placed cement board on the shower walls and ceiling. The joints as well as the complete board was given a coat of Red Guard waterproofing. A new plywood sub-floor was installed.
Then, 1/4 hardi-board was installed on the floor and got waterproofed. We then placed an accent tile on one wall. The floor also was tiled. The shower area and floor were tiled. After, all tile was grouted.
Then the glass doors, counter and counter top and sink were installed. Then room was painted.

My last project consisted of two world class clients! They had a vision and it was a good one. We worked as a team to design the plan and build it.

Two weeks of inclement weather tried to slow the progress but turned in our favor in the end. The clients today are my friends and have been gracious enough to give 5 star reviews on my behalf.

We bumped out a tiny master bath so we could install a large double vanity, put luxurious granite tile on the floor, poured the shower floor and tiled it, along with the walls, new fixtures, new lighting, perfect!

We love the elegant AC coupled setup here, which allows the homeowner not only 4-5 days of power autonomy during an outage, but also effectively “shed” excess power generated during a power outage through a garage-based heater. Seemlessly activates within 16 milliseconds of a blackout and sustains all critical home loads.

Fire damaged home. We did a complete interior rebuild of a fire damaged property. This was was complete demo down to the wall studs. We re-wired the entire home, installed new HVAC, all new windows, insulation, doors, drywall, flooring and plumbing, to include new bathroom and kitchen installation.

The last project is a 3 family home in Astoria, Queens. It was a gut renovation. I took an old run-down home and made it into a luxury duplex home with a 1st floor apartment for rent. My customers were extremely happy with the results because it was detailed to perfection, and there were no hidden surprise costs- within budget and finished earlier than estimated.

R-4 Assisted Living complete gut out and remodel as well as a basement finish. There was a new fire suppression system installed as well as a fire monitoring system. At the Final C.O. Inspection the Inspector joked “have you done these before?” we both laughed and he went on to say “its nice to come into a project like this and find somebody that actually knows what they are doing.” There were no issues and we passed with flying colors.

Generally, window projects usually take three to five weeks from the initial free no obligation quote appointment, contract execution, window ordering and delivery, and the installation.
The most recent project included a detailed explanation of windows in general during the initial quoting appointment. Valuing the customer’s time I spent only about thirty minutes displaying a sample window and answering questions. ( I will stay as long as the customer wishes to answer questions). I then spent another fifteen minutes performing a preliminary measurement of the window openings for quoting purposes. All windows are custom made to each opening. As such, the windows were remeasured by my installer after the contract was signed.
After the initial measurement, I gave the customer a preliminary verbal quote, followed up later that day with a written one sent via email. This email contained three separate manufacturer quotes for the customer to choose. The customer called three days later to set up a time for contract execution and remeasure. At that time, I also collected an initial deposit of 50% of the contract price.
The windows were ordered after the mandatory three day waiting period for contract rescission as prescribed by Texas law. Three weeks later the windows were delivered to my warehouse and the installers were scheduled according to the customer’s convenience. As this customer ordered 21 windows, it took two days to complete.
Upon completion, I requested the homeowner to sign the contract affirming completion and pay the remaining balance due. I then asked for referrals.

Our latest project was an unfinished open basement that we turned into two rooms, a bathroom, closets and an open living room area. We built, insulated and painted the new walls. We put hardwood flooring in throughout. We also created closet spaces and a full bathroom as well. The two rooms were built using the open space the basement already had, and left half for a open living room feel.

Our last project was one of the funnest to date! A local food blogger contracted us for the remodel of her kitchen. We worked with her to create her dream kitchen. We just uploaded photos on our Buildzoom profile, check it out!
