This one is for beer lovers. Breweries seem to be popping up everywhere. With craft brewing growing throughout the country, we decided to look into the construction of breweries this week. After looking at every permit that mentioned the word “brewery” to enter our system over the past month, here are the 11 breweries we thought were the most interesting. 1. Humble Sea Brewery – Santa Cruz, CA
Humble Sea Brewery in Santa Cruz is getting a new Tasting Room. Nick Pavlina, the head brewer at Humble Sea Brewery, is also a general contractor, however, permits indicate a different contractor will build the tasting room. The permit was applied for in September, was issued on November 28th and is estimated to cost just under $200,000.

2. Microbrewery – Columbus OH
Work on a new microbrewery and taproom has been begun in Columbus, Ohio. The new brewery will replace the Carpet King on 2365 W Dublin Granville Road. The new location will be over 5,000 square feet and the renovation is estimated to cost $150,000.

3. Thirsty Planet Brewing Company- Austin, TX
Thirsty Planet Brewing Company in Austin is relocating to 8201 S Congress Ave. The project was applied for on December 15th and is currently under review by the Austin building department. The new building is estimated to cost just over $1 million.

4. Old Skool Brewery – Baker, MT
A new brewery is opening up in Baker, Montana. It will be called Old Skool Brewery and will be located at 115 East Montana Avenue.

5. New Brewery – Salem, OR
Building permits indicate that a new brewery is coming to Salem. The new brewery will be located at 2315 25th Street SE and will be approximately 5,700 square feet.

6. Ginger’s Revenge – Ashville NC
Ginger’s Revenge has begun work on their new brewery. This Ashville, NC-based brewery brews alcoholic ginger beer and is the past winner of the People’s Choice Award at North Carolina’s Just Brew It home-brewing competition. The brewery will be located at 829 riverside Dr. in Asheville.

7. Hi Sign Brewery – Austin, TX
Hi Sign Brewery is well on its way to completion in Austin. Located at 1201 Bastrop Hwy Service Road the brewery plans to open in January according to their website. Initially issued permits in August, the site just received permits for their walk-in refrigerated area. The project will be moving on to inspections soon.

8. Utepils Brewery – Minneapolis, MN
Utepils Brewery in Minneapolis is currently under construction. The brewery, located at 225 Thomas Avenue North, has been issued 11 permits to date.

9. Portage Brewery – Walker, MN
Construction is underway at Portage Brewery in Walker, MN. Work began on November 28th when the first permit was issued.

10. Home Brewery – Woodinville, WA
This one is a little different from the rest of the list. Someone in Woodinville, Washington just got a permit to convert their house into a brewery. The house received a permit for sale of beer and the work needed for the conversion. The Seattle suburb is also home to Redhook Brewing Company.

11. Golden Road Brewery – Sacramento, CA
Golden Road started work on their Brewery in Sacramento. The brewery will be located at 1865 L St and will be made from shipping containers. From permits, it looks as though the project will consist of 10 shipping containers; 4 for the brew hall, 4 for the brew cellar, and 2 for the bathrooms. The brewery is owned by Anheuser-Busch.
