The New York Department of Buildings was busy in the first two weeks of January. Issued permits indicate there were 22 apartment buildings approved for construction as of January 13th. These 22 buildings will add 1,592 new units across just under 2 million square feet. The apartment buildings are in four of the five boroughs, omitting only Staten island. The projects on the list span everything from the Crossing in downtown Jamaica, which is 600,000 square feet, to a 4,000 square foot, 4-unit building in Bed-Stuy. Check out the list of projects below for information on each of the individual projects. Should other apartments be on the list? Let us know in the comments and we’ll look into it.
