We purchased our dream home in La Jolla, and in my opinion, things did not go well with A-Frame Construction. Let me explain: Based on a recommendation, we hired A-Frame Construction for a home remodel, but the experience was disastrous. Communication was poor from the start, with frequent updates and critical information omitted, such as overage costs without pre-approved change orders, leading to unanticipated and sometimes unsubstantiated costs associated with additional work.
In our opinion, and from what we have been told by several contractors, much of the work was not up to industry standards, with sloppy finish work and defective installations on many items. Despite repeated promises to fix issues, problems persisted, such as improperly joined mitered edges and defective molding. Communication breakdowns were rampant, resulting in frequent delays and large additional costs. Missing items, such as difficult-to-replace door and window parts and damaged property, added to the frustration.
Financial mismanagement was evident throughout the project. We were invoiced for incomplete or poorly done work, and records and billing procedures were confusing and disorganized. Delays meant we couldn't move in until months beyond the promised completion date, incurring significant hotel costs.
Our confidence in A-Frame’s ability to manage the project eroded over time. The project culminated in refusals to take accountability for the deficient work and overall project management. This lack of confidence in A-Frame’s ability to perform was a significant factor in our negative experience.
Overall, our experience with A-Frame Construction was marked by poor communication, substandard work, financial mismanagement, and significant additional costs. We strongly advise against hiring them for any remodeling projects.
