BEWARE! DON'T BE SCAMMED
I am writing to share a cautionary tale about my experience with a contractor, Alberto Macias (License Number 891938), to prevent others from suffering similar financial and emotional distress. My brother initially recommended Mr. Macias following significant water damage to my property caused by an upstairs neighbor's leak. However, this recommendation proved tragically misguided.
Instead of the professional service I expected, I encountered a pattern of unethical and manipulative behavior. Mr. Macias consistently demanded cash advances, often under duress, while the actual work performed remained minimal and far below acceptable standards. His persistent pressure tactics escalated to threats of project delays if payments weren't immediately forthcoming. I strongly believe my money was MISAPPROPRIATED!!!
Due to the unsatisfactory workmanship and his refusal to provide a transparent accounting of the funds received, I was forced to terminate his services. Subsequently, I filed a formal complaint with the Contractors State License Board (CSLB), leading to a citation against his license in February 2025.
Further, I initiated a civil lawsuit against Mr. Macias in November 2023 for fraudulent practices. Given his failure to respond to the legal proceedings, a default judgment is currently pending. Civil lawsuits is public information on Superior Court of California. County of San Diego.
I urge you to exercise extreme caution when considering Alberto Macias for any contracting work. You can independently verify the information I've provided by searching his license number (891938) on the CSLB website. My experience serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough due diligence and the potential consequences of engaging contractors without verifying their credentials and reputation. I hope this warning protects others from similar exploitation.
