I hired A.M. Renovations to do a few projects (indoor & outdoor) at my residence in May of 2018. As a whole Allen Maclain (A.M. Renovations) is competent in his craft and is no more unreliable than most small contractors. However, I found him to be unprofessional in his business practices.
When the projects were basically complete, he requested the final payment. There was still some clean-up to be done; patching drywall damaged during electrical installs, removing equipment, etc. I questioned some additional costs included in the final billing and he got quite miffed and would not discuss it with me. He accepted my final payment plus 50% of the additional costs and I never saw him again. He has never returned to finish the clean-up work. I still have his lockbox on my front door.
Subsequently the grout on the outdoor tile he installed is cracking and coming apart. I repeatedly informed him of this but never heard back. Also, the roof he put over my deck is leaking a lot.
