  Our experience with A Wood Custom Home Building has been nothing short of a nightmare. We began our "6-8 week project" of a rectangular 2-story addition on our home on 8/15/12. As of today, 7/29/13, it is not complete. Our addition was built crooked (both stories completed to the studs/plywood/housewrap, electrical installed and inspected when it was discovered it was 3 inches off square-we tried to point out that the foundation blocks looked crooked as they were being set and the subfloor was clearly at an angle, but the contractor denied it at those times) the entire structure had to be moved/re-worked, which caused stress cracks in untouched rooms, and an exterior door that still doesn't close properly. Our home was left unsealed for months (including during Sandy, when we were without power and exposed to temps in the 30s at night-exterior walls removed and studs/plywood placed but not sealed and no windows, only plastic up on the interior studs between us in our bed and the elements) and we became infested with mice and had squirrels in our home-they ate through food and destroyed/chewed personal items, left droppings all over, would scratch in the walls at night. The list of errors and delays is too long to list. There were days and weeks when no one came to our house to work at all, with no notice, would not return calls or texts. During May, we discovered that one of the employees had stolen from our home over the many times he'd been left alone here over a 6th month period. The last visit from this contractor was on 6/20, when he dug out the foundation to repair leaks and properly apply water sealer and a drain (it had been done improperly by the person who robbed us when he was working with no supervision)... he dug the trench around our home and we haven't heard from him since. We have 2 back doors that open up to 5-ft drops into a ditch, and a 3 year old who can unlock those doors. It is unimaginable that any decent human being would even think of stringing along a client who paid on time according to schedule, forgave absences and mistakes for months and month, and the leave a home unsafe for that family and just walk away. Unthinkable. This application is forcing me to give a "star" or it won't accept this review, but make no mistake, this company gets NO STARS.
