  Terrible communication and they literally installed a broken unit and will not fix it. I had my unit installed in late April and have had my AC stop working over 15 times since. The technicians usually come quickly, however that doesn't mean much the issue persists. Whenever they "fix" the issue, it breaks a few days later.

  I have tried contacting management several times and cannot get ahold of anyone to address this. It is extremely disheartening to pay so much money and then get a unit that does not work throughout a Florida summer and be ignored.

  AC repair

  I hired Airheads this past weekend. My AC wasn't working and I needed some help. I tried to troubleshoot the issue online before requesting their service. I cleared the AC drain line, checked the fuse box and filter, cycled the AC and even swapped out my thermostat. After completing these tasks, the issue wasn't resolved.

  When I called, I spoke to a very nice lady over the phone. She was knowledgeable and very professional. She told me that they charge $95 to come out and perform diagnostics. If I had them fix the issue, this amount would be applied to the repairs. Money is tight but I respected the price she stated. She also informed me that they currently had someone in my area and he would come after completing his current job. I thought that to be very fortuitous.

  The repairman arrived in about an hour which was great. I met him at the driveway and took him to the AC. I showed him that the pipe coming out of the AC was frosted over. He immediately told me that it made no sense to spend any money fixing the AC and that I needed to replace it immediately. "Don't waste any money on this unit, it would be stupid," he said. I found that hard to believe because I have my AC serviced every 6 months. Most recently within the last quarter, I had it serviced and that inspection was excellent. I was told that everything was in great shape despite the 2009 date of the unit. He further told me there was a leak in the system. At this point, he had not done a single diagnostic on the unit, he did not hook any equipment up to the machine, this was strictly a visual check that lasted all of 2 minutes.

  I questioned him and said, there's no way it could be anything else? He said, "well, maybe the fan in the handler isn't working." I told him that is what I suspected as the fan hasn't been turning on. He acquiesced to checking the air handler. I even pulled out my own ladder for him.

  He unscrewed a total of four screws and hooked his meter up. Guess what??? I was right! Just needed a capacitor swap. I could tell he was quite dismayed - he hoped for a $10k job instead of a $100 job. At this point I did not know how much the capacitor cost. It took him 5 mins to swap that out and put the unit back together. He was at my house for a total of 25 mins - most of that time spent trying to convince me to buy a new AC. I asked him what I owed him. The quote...$245. I found this to be high but didn't question him at the time. Wrote him a check and tipped him $40 - mostly because he went on and on about how many hours he was working per week in overtime. He put the part down on my table and when I went back outside, I noticed he took it with him. I went back out to his truck to retrieve it. I then looked up how much a capacitor costs by the part number - expecting it to be $75-$100...nope, less than $10.

  So yeah, I get that parts are typically marked up so let's say they charge $20 - that's a 100% markup. He was at my house for less than 30 mins - ok full price of $95 even though aside from hooking his voltage meter up, no diagnostics were performed. The receipt is attached so you can see how sketchy the quote was entered. There's no line items, I mean come on...break out the costs, justify your work.

  I called HQ the next morning and explained the situation to the same nice lady I had spoken to the previous day. She seemed very understanding and told me that Bob, the supervisor would be reaching out. I called again the same day and asked for Bob as he never called back. She promised he'd call next day in the morning. They've cashed my check, Bob has no intentions of making this right and neither does the company. I gave them the opportunity to fix this before blasting them on reviews.

  I will end on a positive note: they fixed the issue...with my help. It's been working great since but I'll never call them again.
