Warranty Claimants and New Buyers…Beware!
A few months ago we reached out to Alameda Pools to address a pool light that failed after less than a year, installed. Within an hour of the technician leaving our home after replacing the light, the electrical transformer began humming (not a good thing). The OEM advised Alameda Pools to call in a warranty replacement for the transformer. A few weeks later, a transformer was dropped off and an electrical company lined up to replace it. Low and behold, the transformer was not a one-for-one replacement. The original one installed with our pool was a 300W output; the one Alameda Pools replaced it with in a 100W output transformer. Not an equal warranty replacement by anyone’s standards. Sadly, Alameda Pools informed us that this replacement transformer was “good enough” for our current setup. Warranty replacements should be of equal or greater value, not less. They seemed to completely miss the point. To make matters worse, the electrical company did not install the transformer correctly and now our pool lights are rendered useless. As of the writing of this review, it has been several months, multiple emails and phone calls to the company WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THEM AT ALL.
Sadly, this is just the most recent debacle in a 19-month long, frustrating journey with this company. We contracted them to install a pool, and it has been a headache ever since. Between the irreparable installation of piping installed by Alameda Pool, caused by negligence and trying to skimp on raw materials, we are left with main drains that are off center (looking like a rookie with no experience installed them) and skimmers that are not properly balanced (leading to improper flow of water to the pump); failure to replace a failing pool pump; taking liberties with our yard without our permission and then leaving it a dump; and general quality issues (concrete splatter on our fence and pool stairs; poor plumbing installation at the pump/filter, etc.), this company has left us completely frustrated.
